Quick question for those of you with Violet Amethyst sabers: Does the color in real life look white-ish to you? The photos in this thread look so rich and vibrant, but I just got my first sabers and they don't look quite like that to my eye.

Still a great color, but far closer to white than a vibrant purple.  But my color disc experiments have been a success in getting a rich Blue or Red out of the VA. I've even managed to get a hot pink/BH and a dark blueish purple (BVA?).
Just wondering if this white-ish hue is common or if it's just my sabers?

To me, I wouldn't call it white per se but kind of a light, almost pastel/easter egg, purple for my wife's VA. Did you try fresh batteries though?

Still have the batteries that it shipped with, but even with the color discs, it pretty bright. So I don't think it's the batteries.
I guess it's just a color that looks better on camera than IRL. That's sad because it was starting to be one of my favorite saber colors. I wanted a rich saturated purple like in the photos, not a light pastel lavender.

Oh well. I guess I have to live with it. Already ordered it for my sound saber. My boys are happy with their blue/red so it'll work.

Sorry I can’t honestly answer that question because mine is a Emerald driver and I mixed the color myself till I got the shade of purple I was happy with.

Maybe try fresh batteries anyway just to see if that might help any. when I did my first real purple saber a few years ago I had the clear type blade for mine so maybe that's a difference too

I'll probably have to try fresh batteries by tomorrow anyway. I plan on doing some videos and my sons have been using the sabers quite a bit.
I just did a test with my camera and it does show up as a nice purple there. So I really think it's just my eyes.

The funny part about it is that if I put a blue and red color disc in it, it becomes the color I want, but at the price of brightness.

My VA Bane look the same way. The blue LED US is using currently is too light in hue. It needs a deeper blue LED to work great. Resistoring it back give the illusion of darkening it some but really just dims it a bit. And using color disks filters the unwanted wavelengths but again results in less light projection. If there is alot of variation it is a supplier issue shipping US inconsistent LEDs. I'm not sure if this overly white VA is a consistent thing (color selection by US) or just a few of us with chemically inaccurate LEDs (poor manufacturing or sorting practices by the supplier).

Well the good news is that for what I wanted VA for (ie to use discs to swap between Blue or Red), the sabers I got are perfect. We can get a vibrant Blue or Red with only a slight dimming (barely noticeable and still FAR brighter than any toy saber we've ever had)

What worries my is that I've ordered a sound saber in VA with Silver FoC. If the VA looks too white to me, the Silver FoC wont' really show up and I'll feel like I spend $35 for nothing.  We'll see, of course.  I also intended for my sound saber to primarily be VA and the R/B swapping with discs was going to be a bonus and part of my character's backstory.

In that thread, a dark green disc was used to make Blue. So in theory a Silver FoC would be green, giving me a Blue blade with Green FoC
Likewise an Orange disc was used to make Red. So again in theory, I'd get a Yellow/Orange Foc to go with that Red

But the VA I got gets the Red/Blue with R/B discs respectively, not Orange/Green.  Side note, I also didn't get a dark green disc with my order, I think I got an extra Red instead.  Hopefully my next order comes with a Dark Green AND is the VA shown in that thread
