SWTOR Sith Assassin - so far

Greetings!

Further to my posts about armour, and so forth, the pieces I chose finally arrived and I was able to put together my assassin's costume, at least in phase one. Both *Insert Assassin's name here* and Count Arkanus (my Cleric's new designation) are WIP costumes, but I'm happy with where they are currently at.

Seeing the Assassin here, if a name suddenly strikes you, feel free to share it! Do be aware that I'm considering body armour and a lower half face mask (MK Smoke style) too. These are both FAR more expensive pieces though! I am also looking at a short sleeved Tunic, under which I would wear lycra underarmour!

Great job man! I love the design. Are you planning on painting the armor parts at all or just leaving them the color they are?

It's definitely looking good! I still like the Falcon and Hawk themed names you were tossing around earlier, but with the idea of a ninja Sith, what about something like Heizu (haze in Japanese)? Someone who strikes quickly and silently, unseen through the haze.

Cool stuff so far, I feel like it could use some other accent color, but I can't quite figure out what that is...

If you're going for the Ryu Hayabusa look, perhaps a dark gunmetal grey

So far though incredibly awesome... Also I don't think a lower face mask would be a terrible edition to this look.

Very cool idea with the name! I'm assuming, considering the Japanese proclivity for adopting and Nihonising non-Japanese words, the "Heizu" would basically be pronounce "Haze"!

Ironic, considering the mask I want to add is from "Smoke" on Mortal Kombat!

As for painting and accent colours, to be honest I cannot think what they should be either, so I was planning to stick with them "as is". I like the grey, but wouldn't have chosen it. Given a choice, I'd have gone with black or red. I think I'm reserving red for "The Count" though. hehe

Personally, I'm not too keen on the belt, but maybe with the rest of the gear it'd look great. Either way, the mask will look great, and it's up to you about the belt we all have different flair that way.

As to how Haizu would be pronounced, I have no idea at all. Not only is Japanese not a strong suit for me, it isn't a suit at all. It isn't even a swimsuit. No, no Japanese suits for me

Seriously though, I knew you wanted a Japanese flair so I looked for words that invoke the image of "ninja" in my mind (words like haze, fog, steam, vapour).

Looks awesome so far!!  I agree with Ben about the belt.  Doesn't seem like it would work, especially if you're looking at getting armor for the chest as well.  The mask, though.  Man, that thing is SICK!  At some point you'll definitely be called a Sith Scorpion (more people know Scorpion and Sub-Zero than Smoke), but even so it will look amazing! 

For the accent color, it'll sound weird, but I think I might try white.  Not a lot of it, mind you, but just a spattering here and there.

Thanks gents! Actually, I LOVE the belt. It kind has a Darth Maul feel to me, which I very much like! Also, I would not go with body armour if going for the belt, as that is (in my mind) a kind of "lower body armour".

The mask is freaking fantastic and I LOVE it. I'm a big MK fan too, so win win!

I'm going to look into Japanese Elemental names as well, so thanks for a cool idea!!!!

You are completely wrong about the Japanese word for "haze". That word, I am assuming you pulled off of some sort of online google search. The Japanese have several different terms for the word "haze", and depending on the time of year or situation the word changes. Here is a much better resource, which I have used for many of my own Japanese cultural/language studies.

Hmm.   If you skip the upper body armor in favor of the belt, that might just work.  I'd been under the impression you intended to use both.

I'm not at all offended. You guess right that I pulled it from a google search. That's why I clarified in my last post:

Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic, I can get by (usually) but as I mentioned above, Japanese doesn't even get the consideration of "not being a strong suit".

Good, good. Yeah I felt obligated to step in there because I studied Japanese for about three years, and I study Japanese culture actively (Though I am not fluent in it, I can definitely tell when something isn't "right"). I had to check because that just stood out to me way too much.

Did you take that word from Google Translate? I typed that in google and that's what google translate gave me. If you did, I forewarn EVERYBODY to NEVER USE GOOGLE TRANSLATE. It is a VERY TERRIBLE SOURCE TO USE FOR TRANSLATIONS. XD

IF "heizu" would have been correct, it would have been pronounced similarly to "Hey-zoo". But again, it was far from correct. =P

The reason I think that word popped up because there is a commonality to represent words that do not exist in the Japanese language to make them fit. Google translate doesn't recognize that, so you end up with a quick fix that is often used for modern words that don't exist in the traditional Japanese language to help them assimilate into the language.

I like the face piece idea and maybe a small chest piece would be a nice addition.

How about a dark grey cloak to top it off? Grey is very inconspicuous (more so than black or red) and then when you flip the cloak off, your victim sees just a flash of the menace underneath before you disappear!!

Whatever you chose, I am sure it will be great. You certain have made great choices so far.
