Hello all you saberforumers. Its been about 6 months since i last made or posted a video. Getting back into practice now and thought i'd throw out a couple of single blade moves i've been working one. One is a backwards (almost behind the back ) lob over the head from reverse grip, inspired by my friends flaring. And the 2nd is the horizontal cloud spin aerial. Enjoy. Comments, feedback, questions and constructive criticisms welcomed, and i've got some more single and duel bladed moves to come soon that are in the pipeline. Until then may the force serve you.

Oh also, i originally made this video to the song of Mass Destruction By Faithless. I thought some of the lyrics tied into Star wars nicely. How fear and Greed is a weapon of mass destruction. Anyways, youtube seemed to dislike my use of the song obviously because of 3rd party copywriting crap. So if anyone has any suggestions to any tracks, instrumentals or songs that i could use for any future vids that sound electronic sci-fi starwarsy. I will hate you alot less for your efforts. Thanks .

Hi DARTH CH3M15T, good to meet you on the forum  Smiley

I really like some of the spins you're doing here, your backwards flip and over head spin look great, something for me to practice perhaps..... I've been spinning for about 6 months, being guided by the excellent online stuff from Master Venturous and Darth Cephalus, practicing lots and getting faster and more fluid I suppose, at least I think so, lol..... Guess what I need to do now is post a video and get some feedback too.... Perhaps soon

Also, your other videos are awesome, especially your dual weilding at some great locations..... Points for your vids..... cheers  Smiley

Good to mee you JediXIX.

Yes i consider Venturous as my first Master, as his tutorial series was the one to help me progress the most with my spinning ability. Helping me easily learn the basics.
I was watching some of his saber staff tutorials just last week with my new staff.  I think Me and Cephalus were progressing at more or less the same time. And thus so, in a friendly sort of competition with each other. If one of us learnt a new trick, the other would also learn it and also try and improve, tweek or add to it.  It was a fun way of developing skills. I'd say the 3 of us now possess great skills within spinning but with different attributes. Venturous is like a saber staff god. Me and Cephalus are more or less evenly matched with regular duel wielding. But Cephalus's single bladed, hand rolls, aerials and hand switches skills are far more technical then mine. So i tended to focus on the difficult duel reverse grip moves and overly idiotic aerial throws like the ones my last single blade video.
Glad you like my videos, i'm planning on a lot more this year. I'll start thinking about a few other locations to use for them too.  I would suggest making some spinning videos. Even if you don't upload them for feedback, its a helpful way of watching yourself in 3rd person and perhaps picking up on any mistakes  and areas that need improving and also when it does work well, you can see that it does and know thats how its done if you get me.

This felt difficult to do. Can seem quite hazardous at times. But when you get the rhythm of it down.

Oh I like that last one. Thank you for using different colored sabers by the way. At first I thought this was a hand switch and I was preparing to send you something dead in the mail. The side view helped me see what is going on there. Looks like something I will have to learn. The staff is an adjustment isn't it? Prepare to clock yourself with it more than once. As to the over head spin, The single saber snap and rotation around the thumb is similar to what I do. When you do it with the staff though, you have the luxury of  momentum and might find it easier to try it as a contact palm spin. It lets you keep greater control and avoids the death drop I see you ducking from time to time. Instead of snapping the saber with the fingers and around the thumb, you snap it with the thumb and onto the palm. The set-up is the opposite direction. If you get the thumb strength, you can even toss it straight up to break the contact by bumping it with the palm while keeping your palm still central and right below it for the catch. It saves your head, just watch your fingers if you catch it wrong. Let it hit your palm and rotate into place before you grasp. I've said it before, but glad to have you back CH3M15T. I've been neglecting my duel wield without someone to keep me on my game.

One thing I've really enjoyed watching on this forum is how one of us can show a move and then maybe a week later, someone else has taken that move and altered it, either showing a new variation on it improving it slightly. To me, that is one of the main reasons we do these things, so that we can all share knowledge and learn even more. As CH3M15T said, we all have our specialties that we tend to focus on. Cephalus is the single saber person with aerials, contact spinning, and finding new ways of doing previous moves, CH3M15T is pretty much the authority on dual wielding and reverse grip usage, and I'm more of the staff person. It's awesome we can all bring what we know to the table and share it and evolve it into new moves. Also what CH3M15T said, it's always a good idea to film yourself so you can see yourself from 3rd person, even if you don't post it. That is useful with a lot of skills in order to observe yourself and learn from it. If you are ok with it, then we'd also love to see it as well. Tongue

Even if you don't film yourself, practicing in a reflective surface or even watching your shadow on the ground is a great way to get feedback, coordinate, and tighten up moves.

Yep..... thanks again guys for posting so many vids to help others like myself and show whats possible..... you guys rock  Cool

I'm lucky to have a couple spots to practice where I can see my reflection, and yes that helps so much, so next step will be a video, great advice...... I practice a lot with changing between hands, both with a single blade and staff, and have a few different ideas that I'll share one day too, when I'm not so precious about not making mistakes, think I need to let go a bit more, lol...... Something I want to work on is more whole body movement..... I find I'm just kind of standing there in the one spot too much sometimes, so I'll work on that too..... Only just early days for flips or juggling for me, much to learn I still have  Smiley

What I find with the staff is I have to commit to each spin, its hard to catch it when there's no where to go, stuck under the arm, or a smack in the head, haha, although I'm getting much better...... I guess its like anything...... practice, practice, practice..... I especially enjoy swapping hands behind my back, right to left then back left to right, using downward and upward shoulder rolls each side..... When I've warmed up a bit, and in the zone, it looks sooo cool.....  Cool  Then adding swapping over in front as well...... then round and round, hah, lots of fun.....

Getting better at reverse grip shoulder rolls too, because of my staff practice...... As for dual single sabers...... whoa, not yet..... I'll start to focus on that later on......

Thank you JediXIX.  Glad i am able to entertain, inspire and / or anger with my achievements.
Use your anger Cephalus. A move like this would take no time at all for a master such as yourself.
First i just trained doing single saber horizontal aerial to get the feel for it. I was aiming for more and more spin on it. But when it comes to the horizontal flowers aerial , or H-flowers aerial Switch over the saber thats aerial spinning has to be the same and precise every time. High enough to get your arm around / or make the hand pass, and for it to make one rotation in the air so that catching and timing everything becomes easier.

Now for my next move. Lols. Don't want to give anything away just yet as i'm not sure if its been done or not.
Hopefully get some practice in tonight and maybe drop another video if i have time. Would be my 5th in 5 days.  Also maybe a few more idea for potential moves and an idea in what i should be training to do next to hopefully unlock another set of unusual and stupidly difficult tricks. LET THE SPIN WARS COMMENCE! hahaha

Yeah jealousy is the pathway to many abilities. Right after your first post, I started working on that hand switch. I had it down with a saber in the main hand and a water bottle in the off hand when you posted the video. I got the move down with two saber later that night. It is a lot like the flower hand switch except tilted up. I had intended to post the move as a reply but you beat me to it. so...The one thing I can say is that I can do it with the left hand as well to avoid the reset. I will post a video later.
