North Carolina (Triangle Area) Dueling?

Hello everybody.   Been lurking for a while just never joined or posted until tonight because I never had a reason to post.  I have been looking around here and the internet as a whole hoping I would find a lightsaber duel group but everything that would cover my area is VERY outdated that I found.  I may have missed something, not sure....but just in case, I am looking to start a group. 

I have a martial arts background, but not swords of any type. Some heavy weapons SCA combat in my early years.  I am starting Kendo the beginning of the year which will help a lot with the dueling.  My wife would most likely join in also and has a fencing background.  I also have at least 1 family member who will join in soon.  Hope to find some others with like interest in developing a good strong dueling group where we can learn from one another as we develop/enhance our skills.

If there is a group already, I may be interested in joining or maybe we can have a second group to have tournaments or practices against in the future?  I plan to put up a Facebook page tomorrow and see if it grows at all and gauge interest.   I have a huge yard that would be perfect for warm weather practices and such and conveniently located in RTP, so middle of triangle area.

Could not see a way to edit my post, so just wanted to state I made a public group for anybody else in central NC who wanted to get together after the new year and hopefully learn together.   Named the group a pretty generic name since Ultrasabers now has a Sword of Omen which we are ordering as soon as it is in stock again (though about 8 more weeks may kill us) and don't want to make it sound like you have to like or be involved in Star Wars cosplay.   Just trying to be as welcoming as possible to everybody.

I live in Wake Forest! I had been wondering if there were any duelers nearby as well.
If this group takes off, I would love to participate! I don't know how regularly I would be able to with my schedule, but it does sound fun!

Wonderful!!   Glad to have somebody else already see the post.  If we can get even a few people, I will gladly host a few meet and greets or whatever is needed to help get a good foundation.  I would love to see this be a regular activity in the area.

That would be great!  I am trying to find others locally who may be interested as well.  Hopefully we can get enough to actually do something before long.

I stay around the Wilson area and would be interested in doing something, as of now I don't even have a saber yet though haha. I might be able to get a person or 2 along with myself.

Feel free to join the Facebook group if you want.  There are not many folks, less then a handful still, but if we can continue to have a common area to discuss ideas and how to get started hopefully it will grow.  I am waiting for one of our sabers to come back in stock which should be in the next month.  So no worries on not having a blade yet.       I hope to get more in the area interested over the next few months.

I joined the group, should have a saber on the way soonish. Put in an  order for my first one at the end of last week.

I'm  really liking the idea of learning how to do some dueling, and meeting some like minded people in the area. My skill level is pretty much nonexistent, but I definitely have an interest and am willing to learn.

The group is slowly forming.   Our Facebook page does have some folks that are not in the Triangle area, but in NC.  May be some a lot closer to you on the coast.  Always welcome to come by and take a look.   
  The folks located in Triangle area, we are planning to meet up once a month currently on a Saturday since we have some travelers also.

Sounds great. Definitely interested in finding other people to practice with and learn from. I'm not far from the RTP area. I've looked for similar types of clubs in the state and it seems like y'all are the only ones up and running.

Triangle area is Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill.     
We have a small number of people who have joined the group, unfortunately very few able to commit to meeting up and almost no experience....but we are trying, even if we have to learn some of the basics from video tutorials and school of hard knocks
