I wish I had a real wood-burning fireplace in the winter.
Granted, but your constant need for firewood drains your local area of trees, causing a chain reaction and sending the whole ecosystem into a tizzy. Angered by this, one of the townspeople sneaks into your apartment at night and disables your smoke detector, while others pile wood onto the fireplace and block the chimney. Others still silently barricade the doors, and wait outside your house dressed in an assortment of clothes and masks a'la Wicker Man (1973). You wake up coughing violently, and run downstairs to see that your entire downstairs is on fire! You try to unlock your front door but are met with a blockade of wooden planks. You look around and shout for help, but the majority of the anonymous townspeople merely stare at you, while others are in prayer circles and some more are playing their assortment of instruments - clarinets, bongo drums, rainsticks, and the like. The fire encroaches on you as you frantically try to pry the wood away from the entrance. Finally, the fire reaches your pajamas and engulfs your body. You run around your house trying to douse the flames, but to no avail. The townspeople lock arms and do the Irish stepdance as your house burns down. Despite not having tap shoes nor a hard ground to dance on, their feet manage to make the clacking noises the dance is famous for. Insects and other vermin crawl out from their hiding places, awakened by the sights and the sounds. I wish I had a decent wooden spoon. |
