As a tattooed woman myself, I can tell you that often, regardless of if it is obvious or not, tattoos are very personal to the wearer. Perhaps you can ask her about hers? It's a nice conversation starter. Even if a tattoo seems to be "just for looks" to the public, it may have deep meaning to the one who bears it. I have a few that are often mistaken for "she got that because it looks cool." No, I didn't.  10 years doesn't sound like a horrid age gap to me. I've dated a man 9 years my senior and we had a fantastic relationship. Mind you, my husband is only 3 years older than me, but his age was not a factor in our relationship and I can't see that it would have been, had the gap been wider. Just be yourself. Be casual. Be nice. Chicks dig it. Done that. She just got a sleeve started, that is all things Indiana. I was even able to offer suggestions that she seemed to appreciate. I'm not good at reading the whys of people in how they act. She always seemed happy, not exuberant, to see me. Is she genuinely happy to see me, or just being polite? However, I have tested the waters by touching her hands to "get a better look" at the ink on her fingers. She didn't seem to mind me touching her, which I took as a good sign. The age gap I've started to consider less on account that I am classified as terminally immature. So I think I can work around that. |

Well, I can tell you this much: It can run both ways. In general, society teaches women to always "be polite" which can make genuine emotion difficult to read. While I am a big fan of being cordial in any given situation, I have often had my politeness mistaken for flirtation by many a person. I can see how it might be difficult to know the difference.
What does your intuition tell you? Often, a "feeling" carries more weight than most people realize. Not a desire or a want, but that initial sense of "aaah, so that's it."

It's been my experience that if a person does not want to be touched, they pull away. She has not, on several different occasions of me touching her hands. I fully expected for this to be the definative "shoot me down" test. But I feel as though I'm still flying, so to speak. |

Hey Darth Logos. Seems like you have scoped this out and have put some mature thought into this potential relationship. The right timing can make the difference for each person to be able to connect and commit. So if she's also wanting to explore to another level and appears to be both physically, emotionally and mentally healthy then why not take a leap of faith and see where it goes. Not that it matters but you have my blessing  . And back off if the Force tells you that it's not going to be a positive experience beyond friendship. She will also be judging if what you have to bring or offer is what she is wanting right now. This should not create more drama in your world. Keep your saber community cheering squad updated.  |

Appreciate it. What worries me more than anything else is my affluence to misread people. I would hate to make her uncomfortalble, ntm make a colosal ass of myself, because I couldn't grasp the subtleties of social cues. |

But seriously, find out what she's into. Chat her up about it. If she likes a certain kind of coffee? Bring her a cup one day. If she likes a certain kind of food? Just happen to go there for lunch and bring her some back. Don't make a big deal out of it, just do it. If she says you shouldn't have, shrug and say she can return the favor one day if she wants to. Nothing wrong with being subtle. It gives you a chance to be cool just for the hell of it and anyone can appreciate that. |
