- As much as I loved Leia using the Force, the flying part was a little weird (might just be a visual issue)
I've postulated this before. It's a modified version of Force Pull. Instead of pulling an object to you, you pull yourself toward an object of larger mass.

Oh I have no issue there, I'm of the mind that nearly anything is possible with the Force.  It was mostly the visual, her flying around in space to land back in the ship, that threw me off.  It came off as odd, borderline comical to me.

On the other hand, seeing Leia use the Force in a Star Wars movie made me ecstatic!

Agreed. Leia finally living up to her heritage was a plus. But I speculated last time the reason they took Leia out as Jedi was because Carrie no longer fit the.......physical characteristics of a Jedi. Roll Eyes

My walk away reaction was "What the f*** did I just watch?"  It wasn't a bad movie, I certainly liked parts, (Luke especially) but overall I'd say I didn't like it as my initial reaction.  Maybe after I see it again....
Same. I thought the movie was... interesting.

Newton's 1st law applies in space the same as it does in atmosphere. I'm not even going to get into how much the bomber's flight path would be shifted. Tongue

The problem is, if you get too far away from reality, people won't take it seriously. It may as well have been a cartoon.

By that logic, every DC or Marvel movie really needs to get their sh*t together because men can't fly, run that fast, or be implanted with strange metal.  Wink

But on a silly note . . . they made such a big thing about the crystal foxes in the previews that I saw, I was sad we didn't see more of them.  And I would like one.   Cheesy

Actually, it wouldn't have shifted at all, given the onscreen evidence.

The bomb bay had artificial gravity directed downwards, evidenced by Rose's sister falling towards the exit door. The only thing they had to do was release the bombs from holding, allowing gravity to pull them down and out. Once they got outside the bomb bay (and outside the gravity field), Newton's First Law goes into full effect, carrying each bomb along its last trajextory at exit speed. This is why it appeared to carpet bomb the other ship, as each bomb exited the bomber just a little bit further along the bomber's flight path.

Meanwhile, the bomber itself was unaffected by the bomb release, as it did not use any kind of propellant to launch them, and therefore did not have a force acting against the ship to push it upwards.

This made me smile.

How bad is it when the OG doesn't like the new direction?

C'mon! You know I do. I mean even if I was contractually obligated to tell this story, I could have easily ironed out the details better.

I hold SW to a different standard than I hold comic movies. Even if it's fiction you can still hold to fictional scientific laws. Like how a lightsaber blade can't penetrate an energy field. But the more real science that can be incorporated, for me at least, makes for a more enjoyable movie.

Actually, it wouldn't have shifted at all, given the onscreen evidence.

I was referring to the utilization of a ram to push the bombs out. But having them released on a successive individual basis would not have exerted a significant force on the bomber, resulting in no change. But if the bomber had to shift the mass of the bombs all at once, then the force required would have shifted the craft's path.

Personally I thought the design just junk. What ever happened to just using Y-Wings for bombing missions? Smaller, more maneuverable, harder to hit with larger guns, required fewer personnel to operate. I would have loved to see new age Y-Wings blowing the hell out of everything.

just got back from seeing TLJ,  In short..Didn't love it...didn't hate it...had some issues with it.  While it wasn't a fandom killer for me...it definitely didn't hype me for 9.  They're going to have to work hard to get me excited for the finale.  I'll give a more indepth post when I gather my thoughts and maybe see it a second time

So TLJ's second weeks take was still #1 at theaters but a had a MASSIVE drop off apparently.

Also. I've watched this over a dozen times and it almost brings me to tears, especially from the 2:25 mark on.  A powerful emotional video put to Johnny Cash's version of "Hurt"

I went to see TLJ for the second time last night and I enjoyed it even more this time around.  Does anyone know what Ben's saber looked like when Luke was going to attack him during his training?  I couldn't get a good look at it.  It definitely wasn't his saber with the cross guard. Cool

It was the Graflex. Which still doesn't answer the question of who found it and how. It does answer why Kylo told Rey that it belongs to him.

Actually, take a closer look.

Ben's                                                                                                                     Kylo's

Not sure if this is official, but I did notice the similar pommels on my second viewing. This concept works for me as it would have been a necessary modification to an already functioning saber, after Kylo did that stupid thing to get a red blade and cracked his crystal.
