Truly, she will be strong- A luminous being is she

« on: January 19, 2011, 10:06:55 PM »

I don't know if it's ok to call this an official thread, so I'll gladly change the title if not. The main focus here will be WWE and TNA since there the most accessible promotions, but if you have something about another promotion feel free to speak up.

So let the discussion begin!

I'll admit I've been pretty bad the last couple of months and haven't watched much wrestling, other than the odd episode of RAW or Smackdown, so I'm kinda out of the loop a bit( I'll try and do better I promise). So let's just start with a General question:

Any other wrestling fans on here?

I watched religiously in the 90's.  Big time Sting fan.

Haven't kept up with it as of late, too many storylines for me now.

I know what you mean. It's hard for to keep up at times too. I like Sting as well but he needs out of TNA ASAP.

And Ultra, HELL YES!!!

Hells yeah for The Ultimate Warrior! I used to be a big time wrestling fan, haven't watched it in years though. I still have my metal folding chair that Ron Van Dam signed though, ECW forever!  Grin

i remember when i was about 8 years old (now 35) my dad took my two brothers and i to watch wrestling. as we were standing in line nicholai volkoff walked right past me. at the time he was one of my favorite wrestlers and he was a matter of three feet in front of me. i stood there in awe, i couldnt even ask him for his autograph because i was in such shock. later on george '' the animal'' steel wrestled , and if any of you guys remember he used to tear open the turnbuckle and throw all of the stuffing outside of the ring. when all of the matches were over my dad took me down next to the ring and i reached in between the steel barriers and grabbed a handful of the stuffing and put it in my coat pocket. i think i still have the stuffing up in my parents attic. as we were leaving ''leaping lenny '' poffo( i think thats how you spell his last name) was in the entrance way signing autographs. even though he usually lost every match i still stood in line to get his autograph on a w.w.f. magazine. my God that was a long time ago.

I remember watching this stuff as a kid. Its sad what happened to some of those guys, Ultimate Warrior lost the mullet thing and the handlebar streamers and is now some conservative talk show host nut job. Lex Luger is a paraplegic or something last I heard.

Moth Man's in an asylum in Maine. Dollar Bill got his cape stuck in a revolving door where he got gunned down. The first Nite Owl runs an auto repair shop. The first Silk Spectre... woops, lacked into Rorshach mode there.

In an entertainment field that demands this kind of top level physical conditioning, it's almost inevitable that it will cause harm.  However, I wonder how the rest of the acting world fares in that regard.  All I can do is be grateful for the memories that those men and women sacrificed their lives to give me.  I'm sure the money they were making had something do with their motivations, too, but I'll always think they did it for me!   Grin

And what do you mean Warrior became a nut job?  LOL, look at the dude, he's always had a few crystals missing from his saber.
