Hey Hazard!
So I tried the Rust (777) filter, and I really like it! But I wouldn't call it "yellow". The color actually reminded me of a really cool orange color, very similar to the Fire Orange blades I've had. In fact, on my saber it showed as a nearly perfect match for Fire Orange.
The straight yellow filter (101) I still prefer for SY. A VERY close second is one called "Oklahoma Yellow" 767. I used 767 for a long time in another AS hilt I had, but I eventually sold that one and the person who bought it was in love with the yellow blade so I sent the filters with it. :-) So I no longer have enough of the 767 filter left to make a blade filter, and I can't justify getting another swatch book for one filter. Another one I've tried is Lee Yellow (765) which is very close to standard Yellow but maybe just a bit more golden. Also a nice color.
I'll try to get a picture of 101 and 765 side-by-side, as I have them in my twin Catalysts right now. :-)
And I took a picture of the rust and yellow (777 and 101) in the same hilt, same conditions, for a side-by-side comparison.
First the Yellow 101. These pictures are VERY close to how they look to my eye, particularly the reflection from the tower the saber is leaning against. This yellow is very "lemony" yellow. And very bright but still a nice rich color.
And second is the rust 777. This one looks more like Fire Orange to me, but is also a very rich color and fully saturated, not washed-out looking.
Anyway, I hope this helps! And again, great post on the greens, pink and purple! Looking forward to trying those out!
