So I got my hands on a saber on the second hand market.  Guy wanted $120, talked him down to trade for some game miniatures.  Anyway, guy said it took AA batteries, so I figured I was getting a knock off that I could retrofit for a project.

Open it up and I see the pair of Lithium Ion Batteries and the sound board.  Jackpot!

It is a Guardian Saber in blue with FOC to white.

It appears to be OLD.

I cant get it to connect to the Obsidian Launcher.

I've already gotten REALLY lucky, but if I could adjust volume and sound fonts it would be great.

Anyone got any ideas.

I'm using the older launcher on a windows 10 machine.

I cant get the computer to recognize that I plugged anything in.

Gonna pick up a new Micro cable today in case the cable is the issue.

Thanks in advance.

I'm apparently old enough that I'm having issues uploading the picture.  The SN is 11100532

Well, it's not an Obsidian lite board, since that uses 4-AAA batteries - and from my experience, you can't order a lite board with li-ion batteries. So it's most likely a Obsidian V3. I do not own one myself, so I can't post a picture.

Can't tell from that pic if it's a V3 or V4, or an earlier board. On the other side, does it have a mini usb port, or a micro usb port?

Micro usb ports are what most non-apple smart phones use for connection/charging.

Also, what version Obsidian launcher are you using? You may need to get a newer version to connect.

Also, when you installed the launcher, did you do so as admin? IF not, it may not work. Follow the instructions in the above link. Also, what usb cord are you using? Some are just for charging and won't pass data.

It's a mini USB.  Took me half the night to dig up the proper cable.

I'll post a pic of the other side in a few hours when I get home.

A serial # starting with 111 could be a V2 board. V3's start with 121 IIRC. So the current launcher would be incompatible with the board.

Also, are there Alkaline batteries in the battery pack? If so, remove them - they don't work with the Obsidian Premium sound boards! They only accept 3.7V 14500-sized Li-Ion batteries with PCB protection (TrustFire batteries from the Ultrasabers shop are definitely recommended).

Also, if you install and run the launcher, always do that with Administrator rights (right-click the .exe and choose "Run as Administrator").

Thank you all for the info and help,  Batteries being ordered in the AM.

Can't Express how impressed I am at the support and information for an old saber collected from the second hand market.

I'm definitely going to be collecting quite a few more.
