You are not the only one. I fully believe it's going to be amazing. However, I'm still not going to get my hopes up too high. I really liked TFA, and didn't mind TLJ, I just don't want a repeat of TLJ.

I won't speak for anyone else even though I know are many that share my sentiments.   No, I am not looking forward to it.  My goodwill was stretched to its breaking point with how Disney has run Star Wars and their utter callousness towards any dissenters.  As we've discussed before, some view Star Wars as more than films.  Its an important part of our lives and, to me and people like me, it has been mishandled and disrespected.  If this film turns out to be good it will actually be even worse because of the waste.  Its kind of like a friend that falls in with a bad crowd.  Their attitude and manner change but you can still see who they used to be underneath it....but that just makes it more heartbreaking to be around.

Not sure how to feel about it to be honest. I'm not dreading it but can't say I'm hype for it either. There's a rumored flashback with Luke that might be cool (also rumors about him as a Force Ghost) and maybe they'll wrap the story they've been trying to tell in a satisfying way. As for it being this ultimate and satisfying climax to all the trilogies I really don't know.

Maybe? Could also be Kylo Ren's fantasy about Rey as his awesome dark-side girlfriend. Could be clones. Could even be a vision Rey has, seeing her own potential to become the villain much the way Luke did in the cave on Dagobah.

I couldn't accept that since we still don't know her past or her family, how could they just drop a twin on us? It wouldn't actually carry any emotional resonance.

We didn't know Luke and Leia were twins initially.

But we knew both of them... so finding out they were siblings was an emotional revelation.  Just all of a sudden thrusting a twin into the last film will be a bit jarring

Depends how they do it. For the record, I'm still going with it's a force vision, but it's good to keep the conversation going with new theories.

I'm willing to give Star Wars Disney one last chance. Marvel is the reason for that chance.

I think the main difference between Disney Marvel and Disney Star Wars is Kevin Feige. He has/had the future of the franchise mapped out. Having this plan in place meant they could change things around and shuffle the order when the Sony Spiderman deal was made without affecting the overall arc of the Infinity saga and the character stories they wanted to tell.

As far I csn tell, Kathleen Kennedy didn't have plan for the direction of the franchise. I think they were under the assumption they could wing it and people will be all in simply because it's Star Wars. However, they grossly underestimated the fanbase.

I think those fans who didn't like TLJ may have been more understanding if they knew it was all part of a plan. That these three movies had an overall arc in place before they brought in JJ and Johnson. Instead, they let Johnson do what he wanted (and he made some bold decisions) but now they had to bring JJ back in order to retroactively undo some of the poorer decisions and stick the landing for the end of the Skywalker saga.

If in 2015 they had said we are making a new trilogy that will mark the end of the Skywalker saga but take thr franchise in new and interesting directions the fanbase would have been a lot more forgiving.

Look at Kevin Feige at Marvel. He is the master of telling the press things to keep thr fanbase hyped without actually saying anything. And people salivate over any news/footage/trailers and then they have another box office hit.

Don't get me wrong, I loved TFA, I think Rogue 1 is the best of the Disney era movies and I really liked many parts of TLJ (minus the casino planet side quest), but I'm hoping they have learned there lessson with Solo and being directionless overall.

I am expecting this movie to be good, as that is how I approach all movies. If it's not, I'll be very disappointed.

As one who is greatly disappointed in the direction of Star Wars, I wholeheartedly agree with this.  I did like (not love) TFA.  I thought it was a good start and looked forward to the rest.  But TLJ dashed that.  I really don't know what KK was thinking giving Johnson carte blanche on the middle movie of a sequel.  From many things I've read it seemed as if JJ and Colin Trevorrow (original director of EP 9) were in constant communication and had a direction for the plot.... RJ apparently hardly spoke to them about the script (in depth anyway) and pretty much just threw out what he considered Unimportant whether it was a dangling plot thread or not.  RJ has also been on record as saying he likes to make movies that split audiences.  quote......

“I would be worried if everybody across the board was like ‘yeah, it was a good movie’ it’s much more exciting to me when you get a group of people who are coming up to you who are really really excited about it. Then there are other people who walk out literally saying ‘it’s the worst movie I’ve ever seen.’ Having those two extremes is the mark of the type of movie that I want to make.”
