Custom Sith WIP

Thanks everyone!

Next step is to break out the woodburning tool for some further detailing. I ccan't wait to paint these up. I think I will do black on the outer portions and the black hammered metal color from my helmet on the inner inserts with gold "buttons"… or vice versa.

What say you?

Gold is often quite nice on details.
A few sith armors in swtor (so, old rep era) are quite oppulent though. It all comes down to what kind of character is wearing the armor. A fighter? Judging by the helmet I'd say it's more likely than a politician or conspirator. So... Gold detailing is probably best than too much gold ^^'

**UPDATE**

Here are the pictures I tried posting yesterday.....

Shoulders with new details and first coat of Plasti-Dip drying:


Deltoid and Bicep Armor:

...and with the helmet and neck seal:


Second coat of Plasti-Dip is currently drying....I'll add a 3rd and then the painting will begin. I've decided that the raised portions will be flat black and that the grooved inner areas will be the same hammered black color as the plates on the helmet. With some weathering, these are going to look pretty cool. Doncha think?

Hmm.  Doesn't quite strike fear in my heart.  I hear Nergal and think of gurgle, burgle, Nermal.  None of which a Darth lord wants to be associated with.

I think the Sith will need to take that one back to focus groups, if any still yet live.

Reaper may be a bit cliché I'd say. The internet says that Nergal was also known as Erra or Irra, and had a wife named Ereshkigal, not that the last bit help with a name for a male Sith I suppose. If mrg ends up not going with Nergal, although I don't have any issues with the name, he could perhaps portmanteau multiple names (either from the same or different Gods of death) to come up with something truly unique, not that we haven't had less unique Sith names like Maul, Bane, etc.

It seems like some Sith names add something to the end of another word or name, like Plagueis having "Plague" as the seeming basis of the name, but sometimes they literally just use words, like the aforementioned Maul, Bane, and Vitiate.

If mrg does want to keep Nergal as the base of the name but add a little bit to it, there's a few routes I can think of. An interesting one could be Nergallant, which combines Nergal and gallant, which could be taken as a splended and stately God of Death, or a brave God of Death. Or even for a Revan-type Sith who started out with good, knightly intentions.

Or there's Nergalactic, which is just smashing together Nergal and Galactic, which could be fitting for a God of Death ruling the galaxy.

or Nergalactose if you really like the monosaccharaide sugar galactose for some reason.

Nergallows could combine Nergal with gallows for a Sith executioner.

Nergallus would combine Nergal with gallus, which the internet tells me means bold, daring, or reckless in Scottish, but is apparently also Latin for rooster or cockerel, so you'd be the Daring Rooster God of Death.

But I'm just throwing things at the wall here if I'm being entirely honest.

Edit: or Nergalcazar, which is Nergal and Alcazar, which is a Moorish castle or palace, which I guess may work if you're from Portugal or Spain?

Or Nergalpaca, the God of Death and alpacas.

Or Nergalpha, the Alpha Nergal.

Darth Gallows sounds kinda cool.

I'm contemplating the same problem for my new outfit.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this as the parts were coming together. However, now that I've done some shaping and a few details, I like it when I'm wrong :-D

Those look fantastic. Great job once again. Looking forward to seeing it all come together!

And just to clarify, I don't think Nergal is a bad Sith name, I was just trying to give some potential options to add on to it to mitigate the issue that janx brought up, but when I was looking for words to add on the end, I saw some silly ones that I had to add.

I may borrow this design for my own Sith-itization of the jedi outfit (aka shoulder pads to go with the red light saber).

In other news, remember that $10 voice changer I ordered.  It just got here. I recall you wanted to know how it turned out

To my ear, speaking quietly, with it set in Monster mode, It sounded deeper and kinda Kylo-Ren-ish.  About what I was hoping for, and plenty loud.

To wife, she couldn't understand a damn thing I said. Alien mode is high pitched and terrible.  Amplified mode sounded like me but louder, with some warble.

it has no volume knob.  The speaker/battery box is about 6" by 3" by 1" so it's kinda bulky.  I am assuming I can hide it under my tunic, but it'll be a stretch, literally.


All said, it's a maybe on whether this thing is going to be cool or a pain in the ass when I talk to people. I'll have to control my voice myself to avoid overdriving it, as well as to help it help me. It's not a bad idea to speak quieter inside the mask, so all the people hear is the machine, anyway.
