Better than nothing...I think we must be grateful that US still finds the time to do these deals, after (and maybe still) spending so much time on conventions the last few weeks It is kind of underwhelming to be honest, it's more of an "offer" than a sale. I am not going to groan and moan and demand US do something different though, I'm sure there are many who will very much like this offer. But for me it will set my purchase back as I am going for an Emerald saber (wife is paying some as her Christmas gift to me), but I need all the help I can get on the price. So, we'll see if any Christmas deals pop up. |

One of the other guys reported a 500% raise in sales this year and doesn't have any special offers for Black Friday. Ultimate FX sabers that were $35 on Amazon are now $85. The FX Kit Fisto that was $135 this time last year is now $300+. Everyone wants a lightsaber and no one can keep up with demand. Just check out how many US sabers are out of stock. All saber producers are under extreme strain right now because of all the hype surround The Force Awakens. Be glad that we can get any sort of deal or offer when demand is so high right now and the supply is so low.

I get all that, and as I said before I will not demand or ridicule US for this offer. Indeed they don't have to offer anything at all if they so choose. This is merely a personal disappointment, as I'm sure it is for a few others, since my planned purchase hinged on some kind of discount. Again, if US decides to do no such sale before the end of the year...that is their prerogative and I have no problem with that. It will just mean, for myself, that my purchase will be delayed until sometime after Christmas. |

Let's get back on track with suggestions!
I'm curious about Bluetooth-enabled sabers. Having to plug in a USB cable is fine and dandy, but it'd be cool if I could just pop off the pommel (to reduce RF interference), fire up an app, and bam, switch blade colours on an Emerald saber.
Another idea a friend of mine has: put a bit of wiring/electronics into the pommel, such that pommels have different electronic signatures. Then, by swapping pommels, you are basically setting a dipswitch setting for the electronics to read. At a simplest level, it'd just be a resistor in the pommel, so if the Emerald board sees low resistance from the pommel input, it sets the blade colour to the first setting (e.g., blue), and if it detects a high resistance, it uses a second setting (e.g., red).
Lastly: lower profile recharge ports, or other recharge options. I already had to send in one saber for repairs when some wires came loose due to me shaking the Obsidian board/battery case out of the hilt. So instead of a port that drilled into hilt, perhaps instead a port that's glued flush to the Obsidian board -- now I just have to tease the board out 1-2", rather than pulling out the whole assembly to access the batteries. Ditto for Emerald boards -- the Emeralds I have have become unglued from the battery pack, due to me trying to access the batteries.

I guess they'd seem like more if I actually expected to spend that much at one time... But 250 or 500 dollars is a lot, and I doubt I'll be spending that much money in one purchase.

I think a cool idea would be if you were able to use multiple powerup and powerdown sounds per font in the same way we already have multiple swings,clashes and lockups. Then the saber could randomize your powerup and powerdown sounds to. Some forum member made soundfont files already contain multiple powerups and powerdowns(Lord Vanes Darth Vader, Ninja Jesus's Count Dooku and Darth Sabre's Emperor fonts to name a few) Right now the Obsidian launcher only lets you select one powerup and powerdown per font. It would be awesome if I could put them all in.
I don't know if this could be accomplished with just a firmware update to the launcher itself or would require a new Obsidian board, but its just an idea.
