Not sure if this was suggested yet, but I think it would be great if US offered these two things:
-Obsidian Lite soundboards. By themselves, like how they offer the Obsidian Premium. Maybe two styles "Light" and "Dark"
-Complete electronic part kits. Everything needed for a lightsaber, sans the hilt and blade.
Oh, and even moreso than those two. A Count Dooku hilt!

Yes, I've seen pictures of sabers with pommels that are not listed on the website. Email them, and see if you can strike a deal. They are trying to make money, after all.
I emailed Emory about replacing my Monarch pommel when it was damaged from being dropped on concrete. He quoted a price right away...no problem! |

Dooku's saber is significantly different from the Mantis.  Which, y'know, is fine. Except for 501st, nobody cares that I have a mostly-black curved saber instead of a mostly-silver curved saber. Everyone assumes "Sith lord, probably has a black saber", and my Dark Mantis fits in just fine.  Hence my suggestion above about getting a very simple Initiate-style curved saber -- the key would be having two curves to it. The gentle curve near the emitter, I suspect, is the nightmarish part for US to fabricate. Then 501st people (like myself) could have a stunt saber we could use. (Right now, I use a cast resin belt hanger, which is fine, but obviously a Ultrasaber-quality saber would be fantastic.) |

I've accidentally found a way to achieve this effect. If you can get just the inside layer of ultrafilm to wrinkle up down the length of the blade, and then a Tri-Cree would probably yield the best results. I accidently ruined the film in the base of one of my first blades, but the result was an unstable look. Dooku's saber is significantly different from the Mantis. Which, y'know, is fine. You know, I bet with an Emerald driver set to a nice, fast flicker, that could really shine as an unstable blade. |

Here's their response: "Additionally, I don’t think there is much of a brightness drop at all when we cut away some of the mirror. The main downfall is that your blade turns into a flashlight. With nothing to stop the light it will shine right through and it looks pretty tacky when your blade is shining on the ceiling and in people’s eyes. And since we don’t stock blades with the mirror cut away, there is just an additional $10 charge (per blade) for any custom changes to blade (such as partially removing the mirror). We can get this taken care of for you. Please make the request in the comments field of your order and also add $10 (a quantity of 10) in requisitions charges from here: http://www.ultrasabers.com/product-p/requisitioncharge.htm to cover the custom blade tip." |
