After fencing for approximately 12 years, I really enjoyed watching this. We call it a "balestra," which is a great way of advancing to obtain the right-of-way in a bout. Great explanation of this footwork, well done.
Good catch! One of my favorite things in that part was that he discouraged bobbing during the technique - you want as much of your motion to remain forward as possible, since the point of the attack is to make a quick and staccato advance without wasting energy. Well done there!
Also, my compliments on the video as a whole. I do intend to produce a footwork video at some point, but I can't help endorsing this one - it is a fine source of knowledge on many important Makashi concepts. This Form is heavily reliant on footwork, so practicing this is something I cannot stress enough.
