I have a gripe... People in movie theaters fiddling with plastic wrappers to get to their oh so important treats without any regard for others who also paid to see the movie and should be able to do so without the interference of a noise monger.

Blame the candy company for not just putting them in the box so I won't have to fight that stupid wrapper with no tear line.  Used to carry a pocket knife to make quick work of it but because of a**holes now I can't.

When you find out that your hometown- where your parents and sister still live- has a bushfire raging 3km outside it on what is a 37C day down there Sad

They are safe for now, bushfire is being blown away from the town, so hoping the wind doesn't swing around tonight  and they get it under control soon :/ bushfires are always a real threat here and you just deal with it- as a kid I've seen flames pouring out of the bush one paddock away from the field hockey pitch where we were practicing (we were sent home pretty quick I promise you!)- but it's still always scary and we've had some real devastating ones in recent years :/

Students are stupid ... not  opinion ... it is a fact Smiley

I asked them to make a bibliographical review about a subject ... and 5 of them just make a copy of one of my OWN article  Roll Eyes

I see them in 2 hours ... i think i will just jump deep in the Dark Side and cook them  Grin
Of course students are stupid, that's why they are in school.

But it is truly a shame society won't allow us to go back to the old ways of letting evolution cleanse the gene pool. In which the stupid die off because they were stupid. Hand out the Darwin Awards and be done with 'em. But no, we have to coddle and protect them, and hand out participation trophies. Fah! The single greatest motivator I had in school was the fear of being left behind. It pushed me to be as smart as I could be, in order to ensure my scores were more than enough to guarantee passing to the next grade.

A very wise person once said "Failure is more instructive than success." I weep for Millenials, because they don't know how to pick themselves up after falling. It's always mommy and daddy to the rescue.

This is from a letter a school sent to parents that I recently saw on Facebook and it couldn't be truer:

Dear parents

* We would like to remind you that magic words such as hello, please, you’re welcome, I’m sorry, and thank you, all begin to be learned at home

* It’s also at home that children learn to be honest, to be on time, diligent, show friends their sympathy, as well as show utmost respect for their elders and all teachers.

* Home is where they learn to be clean, not talk with their mouths full, and how/where to properly dispose of garbage.

* Home is also where they learn to be organized, to take good care of their belongings, and that it’s not ok to touch others.

* Here at school, on the other hand, we teach language, math, history, geography, physics, sciences, and physical education. We only reinforce the education that children receive at home from their parents.

This is not to say ALL parents are to blame. But we all know there are some parents out there who absolutely refuse to accept any responsibility for their children's actions and behaviour

Boo-frickin-hoo. I earned every mark I ever received. If I got a bad grade it was because I didn't apply myself. (Or in college, because I didn't fully grasp the subject matter) I used to think Principle's Honor Roll was an elite group of students that worked above and beyond what was required of them. I was a little disappointed when I found out my freshman year of HS that I had made it on that list without even trying hard. And maintained that standing throughout my HS career. Which then told me, (big secret, shh) it's not that hard to get an education. Just show up and do what you're told, and you pass. Who'd a thunk it?

It's unfortunate, but the fault actually lies with our generation (Gen-X parents). They are so concerned about being their child's friend. Uh, hey dummies. Your children will have no trouble making friends on their own, what they really need are parents, and not just the 2 sets of DNA that came together to form them. I mean parents.

My idiot cousin is about to have a baby, and she is making such a fuss over the ordeal, one would think she's the first woman to ever have a baby. I hate to break it too you, honey, but there are over 7 billion people on the planet, which means women have given birth more than 7 billion times in the last century. Your baby isn't special. I'm not saying that it doesn't have potential to be special, but just showing up is not an achievement.

Every thing you guys are posting just reminds me of the relationship between Theo and his dad in The Cosby Show.

It gives me great pleasure to give you your 200th point for that reference. Despite all the recent stuff with Bill Cosby, that was a great show and I wouldn't have thought anyone your age would even know that programme
