Title: My Superhero can beat up your Superhero!
Post by: Master Rel on November 30, 2012, 07:46:30 PM
Ok more of a popularity contest than a battle game  :)

Two challengers pop up, and then the rest of us vote on who we like better.

First to 5 positive votes wins.

The challenge posters do not get a vote  :)

If 3 days pass without any votes then it is a draw and restarted with new characters.

If 3 days pass without a winner but there are votes then the challenge is called at the beginning of the fourth day and another pair will be up.

The challenges can come from Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, etc. and can cross over...DC vs Dark Horse etc.

These challenges will be based upon 1 picture each.

So make sure your picture represents your favorite artist, version, and style.

There you go...excelsior!

(If it's only superheroes I'll choose again but they seemed similar in size and strength.)

Supers in general I would think...remember it is popularity contest not an actual power comparison fight lol.

But well on you Kham I was sure you could not resist spotlighting Spidey!

:)

Thinks to self..."self, is this not the same person that obsesses over resident evil to the point of ID'ing as one of the evil monster characters as well as basically proxy living in Ponyville as another dark character, a magic talking pony"...and I am to take this opinion on a movie to heart?

Haha

I am just playing of course.

But seriously I liked Elektra just fine, nothing wrong with it at all in my book  :)

Play on players!

Thank you thank you...as for being miniature he is like 5'9", and while that is small for an elephant it is tall for an elephant-ish alien dude  :)

Nightwing. Definitely Nightwing. Though I am a bit biased, seeing as how I love the Bat Family. I think Spiderman is a total push-over though. Not to step on anyones toes or anything.

Yes, Spider-Man, would decimate Nightwing, Batman would be a different story (He is more mature about combat, that would be a crazy fight.) but when it comes down too it Spidey has Super Strength, Super Speed, Spider-Sense, the webbing has a tensile strength of 120 lbs per square millimeter in cross-section, I have no idea how to calculate how much weight just four feet of webbing could hold. No amount of gadgets and martial arts training will help Nightwing.

You got me a riled up boy!  :D

Say what?

This is a popularity challenge and not a contest but if it were...Nightwing and Spiderman would be a great pairing IMO.

While Peter would have the physicality over Wing...not even a close consideration...not even in agility, balance, or dexterity...Spiderman has this all day...Nightwing has the same level of advantage in training, martial ability, and related fighting skills.

The gadgets would be a foil to the webbing.

It would be a spectacular fight.

Nightwing is a non-powered adventurer who can stand toe to toe with just about anyone, powered or not.

Spiderman is a powered adventurer who can stand toe to toe with just about anyone, powered or not.

With no clear winner in classic crossover comicbook fashion I would say a draw.

But in reality it would be a tough call...Nightwing would take that next step where Spiderman would not kill him, even though he could...with one punch.

I am going to say it would be a great comic and I would love to read it!

I'm not allowed to vote since I proposed Nightwing. But even though I know Spider-Man has the potential to beat the crap out of Nightwing, I would still vote for Nightwing anyway.

I hate to say it, but Spider-Man would win in an all-out death match between the two. Spider-Man has superior strength, and while Nightwing was able to go up against the likes of Blockbuster, his advantage in that fight was his speed and agility, in which Spider-Man is his equal or even greater. Nightwing could always try his gadgets, but there's always that annoying Spider-Sense to get in the way.  ::)

Nightwing is awesome, but he can't beat Spider-Man.

However, this is a popularity contest, not an all-out death match! There is still hope.  :)

Frankly, no amount of gadgets or martial arts training would help Batman either. Yes, he has beaten each member of the Justice League, but that was with weeks, or even months, of prior planning. There's no time to plan in an all-out death match!

Nightwing is also as equally skilled as Batman (he was even Batman at one point).

I'm still going with Nightwing, lol. Sorry, but I'm too stubborn to believe Spiderman could take him out. Even if he could, he would have to answer to the rest of the Bat Family, and then he would be royally screwed. Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, or Jason Todd vs. Spiderman? Okay, fine, Spiderman will win all three of those fights. Batman? Yeah, Spidey would put up a good fight, but Batman would win eventually. Barbara? Well, she is paralyzed from the waist down, and it would be really low for Spidey to take her on. Cassandra? Pfft. Cassandra would demolish Spidey with ease.

*sigh* Don't you just love how heated these conversations can get? ;D

Nightwing 2

Spiderman 3

*****

As for the entire Bat clan...Hobbit Hobbit Hobbit...it seems in all things you have particular ideas of what you like and refuse to see things another way, and that is ok...at least you are consistent.

Beyond the popularity contest...in a life or death situation, out of the writer's hands, Nightwing is still just a man...a world class athlete, but still just a human being...Spiderman is augmented far beyond any range Nightwing could hope to reach.

Anything could happen in a single moment of a given fight, but if fought out a hundred times with a simulator or with a magic reset (no knowledge of prior fights)...I would think Spiderman taking it 85%-90% and that is being generous to Nightwing, actual numbers would most likely be 95%-99%+.

All this secondary talk of Batman, other Robins, Batgirl, Batmite, Batdog, Batcat, and Batbat...let us focus.

Nightwing vs Spiderman...in a no holds barred...millions of lives hang in the balance...if a tie they both die...Spiderman wins.

He is in a different class.

Now that said I like Nightwing very much...they both are centered in the real world and Nightwing is more so a real street level super.

Now you want a more realistic skill vs skill, fist vs fist, type vs type...then I would offer a death match cat and mouse game between Nightwing and Punisher.

I would pay for that one also!

I would also. Even though I know that Spider-Man could beat him in a fight I would still support Nightwing 100%. I'm a very loyal person.  :)

Now if only my vote counted, then we would be all tied up! Grrr

Actually, I do see things from other people's perspectives, but that doesn't mean I have to go with everything someone else says. I seriously can't recall a time where I've refused to see things another way.

As for the entire Bat clan...Hobbit Hobbit Hobbit...it seems in all things you have particular ideas of what you like and refuse to see things another way, and that is ok...at least you are consistent.

Why would you even say that? :-\ No need for insults, especially not in a game thread.

Actually, I do see things from other people's perspectives, but that doesn't mean I have to go with everything someone else says. I seriously can't recall a time where I've refused to see things another way.

Exactly... from my point of view, disagreement does not indicate a failure to listen.

Am I missing something?

How is that an insult?

He specifically brought up Batman, Batgirl, etc. would team up or get revenge...I tried to make it a bit funny to avoid hurting feelings.

And disagreement is not a failure to listen...but how about supporting an argument or debate?

It is a silly comicbook game thread...but we were talking about the potential within a comicbook setting...and offering that Nightwing would win because he was a favorite character is hardly a good platform for debate...right?

*****

Actually, I do see things from other people's perspectives, but that doesn't mean I have to go with everything someone else says. I seriously can't recall a time where I've refused to see things another way.

I have supported you in nearly every thread, even when you went off the road as it were.  If you do not see it then you don't, but no need to leave things open ended.

There was no insult inferred or intended.

It is 100% appropriate to have a strong opinion but in somethings you are beyond stubborn and just say "this is the way I think it is, regardless of any evidence".

Now we are talking about superheroes...from different universes...so even it is could ever be serious talk, it wouldn't be.

If you want specifics from other threads then let us continue with PMs.

*****

If you believe that your favorite comicbook character is the best no matter what, then that is great...but if it is not reasonable to others then why keep defending it as if it were a plain fact that should not be debated...your point was made.

I brought it back up to make other considerations and comparisons...beyond "I like this guy so he wins".

If you have read all that everyone has said and firmly believe Nightwing would win then that is what you believe...and that is ok...it is your opinion to have...but I offer that you bring more to the debate other than you like him, you are loyal, or because his big brother or little sister would get revenge.

Why...why would Nightwing win...this is the sort of thing I would want to hear/read...not because you like him.

There may be some aspect I do not know about Nightwing and I would love to know more, especially from a fan rather than goggle.

I like Nightwing also...he is bad ass.

But Spiderman is a iconic superhero with superpowers and is a superpowered bad ass.

Getting back to the voting  :)

PS
Seriously guys, I love debating just about anything...not arguing, but debating...comparing opinions based upon evidence and facts.

I have no animosity for anyone here in the slightest.

In this case, we are talking comicbook characters...I have been involved with comicbooks since I could read on my own...early 1970-71...so I have opinions about comicbooks all day long and would be happy to discuss many aspects.

But no hate or ill will...just talking guys.

PSS
That gif is hi'larious!

Nightwing vs Punisher in a deathmatch...that would be a serious battle.

They have many common elements.

But this offers a much closer power level, skill level, etc.

Not much ground to have a strong case either way, beyond opinion...but I could see Nightwing taking this fight...easy?...no way...could it go either way?...sure.

Would be epic.

Personally, I think it would have been better if you had just asked me why I think Nightwing would win and leave out the part about me, because frankly, I found it a bit insulting. I know you don't mean to cause harm, but it happens quite a bit, and I think if you could just work on being less blunt, it would benefit us all. No harsh feelings, but I figured I would just point that out.

As for why I think Nightwing would win, it's simply because of his resourcefulness and his tenacity in battle. I remember reading one comic in which Batman sends Nightwing off on a suicide mission... and Nightwing manages to not only survive, but also takes back control of an entire prison. He also beat up Slade Wilson. Even if Spiderman did beat him, Nightwing would just come back with a new weapon or strategy to beat him. It's similar to how Batman got utterly demolished by Bane, only to come back and take him down.

The reason why I mentioned the Bat Family is because, let's face it, if Nightwing lost a second time, he can just call for backup. Is this unfair for him to do? No, it isn't. Why? Because Spiderman is a meta-human. Besides, realistically, the Bat Family would want revenge either way. Together, they would be able to take Spidey down. You've got Tim Drake's strategic mind, Batman's gadgets, and let's not forget about Cassandra Cain, who is the greatest martial artist in the DC Universe, AND has a sixth sense that works in the same way as Spidey's spider sense.

The final verdict? Hard to say. Have we ever actually seen these two duke it out? No. If Spiderman won, fine, he won, but he would easily get his butt kicked later by the Bat Family. He still won the initial bout though. If Nightwing won, great, he won. We can debate this all day, but until someone actually makes an official comic, it's all just talk.

This. The Bat Family always backs up their members, and they would be prepared to avenge Nightwing. Spider-Man would have a huge problem on his hands!

However, within the limits of an all-out death match that's do or die with no prior planning Spider-Man would be the victor. But if the limits were expanded, Nightwing would have a much better chance.  :)

I really like your loyalty, Hobbit. You're showing us how to be a true fan!

You do make a good point. But you forget one thing. Spider-Man has friends as well. In fact he has AMAZING FRIENDS. Plus because of the events of Spder Island. He got trained by Shang Chi. The deadly hands of Kung Fu. Not only but they made a whole new fighting style for him. Based on his wall crawling. Now Night Wing isn't a chump either. But neither would take a live. They were both die before taking a life of a good man. Thats my two cents.

I'm pretty sure Batman would already know about Spider-Man's friends and all of their weaknesses. He's beaten each member of the Justice League before with his knowledge! Although, that was with several weeks of prior planning, but that just makes the fight even more interesting because both sides have their own advantages! We should all write a comic book series about this encounter!

I wish I could say Strange. But I have to go with the comics. They have already fought in a way. Now Dr. Strange would beat Kent Nelson by removing the helm. But everyone knows that Nabu is always serking the most powerful in the arcane. That is also how we got Dr. Strangefate.

On a side note how are the characters picked. Cause I would like to see. A battle of two powerhoueses. Like Red Hulk vs Doomsday.

I hate to bring up another Batman-related character, but I thought this would be a great match-up.

Red Hood.

I also toyed with the idea of Terry McGinnis, but both have disc launchers and grapple guns in their forearms, which was WAY too similar!

(Go Moon Knight!)

Got to go with my man Moony ( AKA) Moon Knight.

Red Hood might ba a badass. But Moon Knight cut Bushman's face off. In their last battle and then he kept in. So he could wear it when he felt like it. Jacen Todd on the other hand was killed off by the fans. He was only brought back because they needed a Red Hood that knew all of Batman's tricks. Now I like both. The comic Red Hood and the Outlaws is awesome.

Completely sideline thought...remember that the challenge is about popular vote and not if they fought...but in this case, I really like this match up...which guy do you see winning in a fight (again unrelated to the challenge!)...say in a first man down rather than death match, in an empty big city setting...just the two of them and lots of city...they both have tracking beacons so you could run but the other would be able to find you easy.

Which guy takes it?

I think Cyclops would win, simply due to the fact that his optic blast can travel long distances. Thing is a melee fighter, so the advantage goes to Cyclops. Sure, Thing could just jump and leap over to Cyclops, or maybe throw cars at him, but Cyclops can stop him before that even happens. Thing would need to use guerrilla tactics and ambush Cyclops in a clutter of buildings, thereby making it a close-ranged fight. Still, nothing would be able to stop Cyclops from using his optic blast. Thing could try and cover Cyclops's eyes, but he can just burn right through his hand. Thing would need to stream together a constant barrage of melee attacks and make sure Cyclops is too off-balance to use his beam.

But hey, this is Cyclops. I seriously doubt he would be dumb enough to let Thing bait him into a trap. Cyclops would probably just level all the buildings around him with his optic blast, and Thing can't sneak up behind him because his footsteps would be too loud. I dunno, Cyclops wins it for me.

No I meant this one lol

I thing the Thing being able to fight toe to toe with Hulk and anyone else face to face, having shown his clever ways of closing distance, etc. he has history of dealing with long range guys and still gets them.

Granted, much of this was writers favor.

I am a big fan of cyclops, actually more than the thing truth be told, but I still like Ben's chances.

Thing can take a building falling on him, Cyclops can not.

A great match up IMO that is why I brought it up :)

To tell you the truth, I don't know much about either hero, so oh well ;D I did read up on Cyclops earlier, though, and apparently he can bounce his beams off walls. Don't know if that's true or not, but it could be helpful in a close-range fight.

This...all of this...leaves me stunned.  I can not imagine not knowing the basics of comic books like who the Thing and Cyclops are and what they do.

And no this is not an insult, it is clear that comic books are not your thing...but did you not see the movies?

It is just very curious to me that is all...very curious indeed... :o

I vote for Spawn. Batman has his unfathomable armory and weaponry and inhuman willpower, but because of his past and his dark emotions and aggression; it will only feed Spawn's powers. It's why I thought Spawn would be the perfect opponent for Batman. (much like Vapaad's superconducting loop against a powerful darksider)

Lol, you nominated him, so you can't vote  :)

And keep in mind, this is a popularity challenge...not a consideration of an actual battle...but in some cases it is fun to consider that aspect also.

I fall back to the banner of all Batman arguments...Batman beat all the members of the Justice League.

Spawn is tough but he would not stand a chance with any notice in an open city environment.

Locked in a 10'x10' room, well that is a different matter.

I should probably add that Batman beat all members of the Justice League with at least a few weeks of prior planning. He doesn't have that privilege with Spawn.  :)

But he does have extensive experience with The Demon Etrigan, the two demon types are somewhat related, and IMO Etrigan would bring the boom to a battle with Spawn  :)

Batman wins it.

Ok let us take a slightly different direction.

Two Superheroes that are considered to battle each other.

We are not going to accept prior comicbook battles as these tend to make draws and concessions for a favored character...we will consider the merits of the hero based upon the powers and experiences that can be quantified...we the forum members will vote.

First and foremost...do not get butthurt if your favorite character gets voted to lose...this is just a game...so do not constantly provide feedback on every comment to explain why each example is right or wrong.

Just offer your superhero and present the basic list of powers.

When the challenger is offered then make a comment of how you think it would turn out, they will do the same...we will consider the cases presented and vote.

3 days of voting...first to 5 or best after 3 days.

Second...the challenger should be relative to the first...so if Robin is offered then Hulk would be ridiculous and shameful...the challenger should do their best to offer a reasonable superhero to battle.

Third...superheroes are to be used only once.

We are starting this new so everyone is available.

Remember this is not personal, no fair getting upset and making everyone feel bad because you have a sad...offer the super, see who the challenger is, present your case, and hope for the best!

*****

I will start this new version with...

Iron Man

Hmm both are very similar, but Iron mans suit is more integrated with his body so that could be problematic in the last leg of the fight in my opinion. When I imagine this fight going on in my head It ends with both beating the tar out of each other boxing style and each others armor is in shambles and nonoperational. So I vote for Steel.

The basic idea is that once the challengers are named then the players can post a reason they think their person would win.

Then each voter can add their two cents if desired.

But there was no intend of a blow by blow battle if that is what you were thinking :(

Just a here is mine and there is your, the forum votes who they think would  win :)

Nightwing!

Powers/Abilities

Nightwing is best described as a mid-twenty-year-old man at his peak in mind, body, and soul. His critical thinking and deducting matches up to that of Batman, as does his fighting ability and general crime-fighting attitude. Nightwing excels in agility and acrobatics, so much so as to be referred to as the greatest human acrobat in the DC universe. His training with his family, The Flying Graysons, helped build his strength, stamina and agility at a very young age. Nightwing is currently the only one on Earth capable of doing a quadruple somersault thanks to his time spent at the circus. He is fluent in seven major languages, and is familiar in many others thanks to teachings by Bruce. Nightwing is an excellent strategist and has often brought heroes together showing great leadership skills, which surpass that of Batman’s.

Equipment/Vehicles

Nightwing’s suit is made of fire-resistant material, is insulated against electricity, and is well-protected with triple-weave Kevlar. His suit is also light sensitive, darkening in the light to help keep him hidden. The suit also has certain inlays, giving him extra defense and freedom of movement with all that he carries. His mask, which is held by a type of adhesive (spirit gum), includes a radio transmitter and receiver, and is even capable of going into night-vision. His suit can dispatch wings to enable him to glide or fly when necessary. Nightwing’s items are stored within his gauntlets and boots, each with eight compartments. Should someone try to use his toys against him, like Batman’s utility belt, they’ll be shocked by a charge within the gauntlets and boots, and possibly self-destruct. Nightwing carries with him smoke pellets, his own version of batarangs (wing-dings), tracers, a 100,000 volt stun-gun, flares, a mini-computer, a mini-cell phone, first-aid kit, lockpick, grappling hook, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Nightwing's primary weapons of choice are a pair of Escrima sticks, which he can retrieve from his back. They are unbreakable, great for defense, and can do damage in the right hands.

Nightwing generally rides in a modified motorcycle. He did create his own Batmobile, called the Nightbird, but that was destroyed from Blockbuster’s assault on Grayson’s apartment.

Ok I gave this a lot of thought.

Hard to balance anyone against a popular character regardless of character ability, I had considered Shang-Chi...in a standup fight I would see him winning easily.  But not everyone knows him sooooo I am going with...

Captain America

Captain America has no superhuman powers, although as a result of the Super-Soldier Serum and "Vita-Ray" treatment, he is transformed from a frail young man into a "perfect" specimen of human development and conditioning. Captain America's strength, endurance, agility, speed, reflexes, durability, and healing are at the zenith of natural human potential. Rogers' body regularly replenishes the super-soldier serum; it does not wear off.

The formula enhances all of his metabolic functions and prevents the build-up of fatigue poisons in his muscles, giving him endurance far in excess of an ordinary human being. This accounts for many of his extraordinary feats, including bench pressing 1200 pounds (545 kg) and running a mile (1.6 km) in 73 seconds (49 mph/78 kph).[86] Furthermore, his enhancements are the reason why he was able to survive being frozen in suspended animation for decades. Rogers cannot become intoxicated by drugs, including alcohol, or by impurities in the air and is immune to terrestrial diseases. He is also highly resistant to hypnosis or gases that could limit his focus.

Rogers' battle experience and training make him an expert tactician and an excellent field commander, with his teammates frequently deferring to his orders in battle. Thor has stated that Rogers is one of the very few humans he will take orders from and follow "through the gates of Hades". Rogers' reflexes and senses are also extraordinarily keen. He has blended judo, western boxing, kickboxing, and gymnastics into his own unique fighting style and is a master of multiple martial arts. Years of practice with his near-indestructible shield make him able to aim and throw it with almost unerring accuracy. His skill with his shield is such that he can attack multiple targets in succession with a single throw or even cause a boomerang-like return from a throw to attack an enemy from behind. In canon, he is regarded by other skilled fighters as one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the Marvel Universe, limited only by his human physique. Although the super-soldier serum is an important part of his strength, Rogers has shown himself still sufficiently capable against stronger opponents, even when the serum has been deactivated reverting him to his pre-Captain America physique.

FTW
No question.
Stronger, faster, more durable, at least as agile. Arguably just as effective a combatant, if not more so due to experience.
The shield. 'nuff said.

I disagree with the bits about agility and experience, but it's totally up in the air who would come out on top as far as strength and endurance goes. Well, at least I think it would be.

I could argue that Nightwing is more agile due to genetics and being smaller as well as that is his thing...but experience, strength, endurance...Capt has this without a doubt...he is a super soldier...the pinnacle.

The Nightwing advantages would be his other applications...using his strength with his agility, using his martial skills in combination with his gimmick tools, etc.

Than how is the battle fair? Also, experience isn't given just because he is a super soldier. Nightwing was Batman's sidekick for more years than anyone can remember, and he became a great leader.

Since I can't vote, here's how I think a fight would go down.

Venue: Open city with no pedestrians to get in the way.

Rules: None.

********

Cap appears at one end of a long, straight street. Nightwing drops from a rooftop nearby to land, facing Cap. Neither one wants to risk throwing away a weapon without first testing the other in battle, so they run towards each other.

Cap charges, his full strength behind his shield which becomes a battering ram. Nightwing sees the attack and leaps over Cap's head, pivoting mid air. Cap manages to stop and redirect himself. Both challengers pause, sizing up each other.

Nightwing charges this time and as he nears, Cap leaps into the air to meet Nightwing. The former Boy Wonder instead, rolls on the ground under the Soldier. It appears that neither has a tremendous edge in speed, though Nightwing is ever so slightly faster.

Since neither has foreknowledge of the other, Nightwing doesn't know about Cap's raw strength. They approach each other and exchange blows. Nightwing reels from the onslaught, unable to avoid all attacks. He jumps back, and backflips away for more breathing room.

Cap is on him almost immediately, but Nightwing manages to get hold of his Escrima sticks. He swings at Cap's head, but the Patriot raises his shield in time to block the strike. The vibrations from the shield cause Nightwing to drop the stick in his right hand. He knows that he is no match for Cap in a direct hand to hand battle.

Captain America levels a strike at Nightwing's chest in hopes that he won't be able to duck or jump. Instead, the agile Nightwing leans back, barely avoiding the swing. Seeing that facing Cap head on is hopeless, Nightwing drops a smoke pellet and runs toward a three story building. He aims his grapnel at the roof, and begins ascending quickly.

As the former member of the Dynamic Duo scrambles over the edge of the roof, Cap throws his shield at him, having stepped out of the cloud of smoke. Though aimed true, Nightwing moves just enough to avoid the majority of the blow. Several ribs are broken through his kevlar, but he manages to regain his feet quickly. The shield had bounced off of Nightwing and back down to Cap.

Nightwing peers over the edge at his opponent. Cap is moving to regain his shield; moving quickly. Nightwing withdraws three wing-dings and throws them at blazing speed at the Super Soldier. Cap manages to avoid two of the three, but the third slices his right bicep. It won't take long for the wound to heal, but it will inhibit throwing his shield temporarily.

Cap and Nightwing stare each other down. They are at a stalemate. Nightwing only has a limited number of wing-dings, and Cap won't be able to throw faster than Nightwing can evade from three stories up. Nightwing hooks his grapnel to another building and swings down toward Cap on the street below. His only hope is the scarce edge he has in speed.

Captain America throws his shield at the descending Nightwing, hitting him square in the chest. Nightwing drops to the ground with a thump, and Cap's shield returns to his hand. Nightwing tries to crawl away, but Cap is on him almost immediately. Cap raises his shield above his head to make the final strike, but Nightwing hits him with his stun gun. Cap is filled with 100,000 volts. It isn't enough to kill the Soldier, but it does make its way through his shield and causes him to drop it.

Nightwing grabs hold of his grapnel line which is dangling in the street. He uses it to pull himself to his feet. Cap, having recovered from the shock, charges forward. Nightwing releases the line and again hits Cap with 100,000 volts, as the two collapse into a heap. Cap has more endurance, and Nightwing is battered. Captain America throws an elbow at Nightwing's head, rendering him unconscious.

*******

While I like both heroes and would love for Nightwing to win, I think Cap would win in a straight up fight. As others have said, both are so close in speed. Nightwing's only advantages are agility and weapons. If Cap can stop Nightwing from using his agility, there is no more hope for Nightwing. That said, it is Cap's endurance and healing that seals it for him. The stun gun alone should have dropped him, but he is so much more resistant than a normal combatant.

So, straight up fight, Cap wins. Give them both time to plan and foreknowledge of each other, then maybe it ends differently.

When it comes to popularity, please oh please vote Nightwing lol.

I actually think it was very accurate. Nightwing is still human, so he can't dodge everything. It's also pretty much impossible to dodge something while swinging on a grapnel line. I'm sure Nightwing would come back with a vengeance, anyway, like his first fight with Blockbuster. He lost that fight, but he learned from it and won the next one. I do think Cap would win in a straight up fight with each hero having no prior knowledge of each other, but my vote still goes to Nightwing because of my loyalty to him.  :)

Title: Re: My Superhero can beat up your Superhero!

First off, I am a big fan of and street sweeper superhero...Nightwing is a great character and I like him quite a bit.

Second, very nice narrative Uncle Ben!

Third...

Nightwing...non-powered human adventurer with exceptional skills, martial ability, near perfect balance, world class acrobatics, great leader, tactics expert, and the tools...lots of tools.

Capt America...he is noted as non-powered but he is a powered human adventurer with the best possible aspects of what a human could physically be...fast, strong, tough, resilient, dexterity, reflexes, etc., a soldier, several lifetimes worth of superheroing, great leader, tactics expert, and the shield...ohh the shield.

I would put Nightwing at Batman's level in all areas except experience...Batman and Capt America have related experience levels.

Is the match up fair?

Superman vs Nightwing would be unfair.

But there were a couple options to go with...had to be popular, known, skilled fighter, agile, etc.

Spiderman? Daredevil? Black Panther? Punisher?

Capt America is about as fair as I could think of and make it competitive.

The fight write up could go the other way if Capt wandered into Nightwing's stomping grounds...home filed advantage could be huge for NW.

I like them both.

That is the tough aspect of hero vs hero...somebody has to lose (or tie lol).

:)

That was a great challenge...closer than the votes show...both tough...Captain America wins with the advantage at times end.

Next two challengers...and remember this is a fight consideration...include some information about your character so others can make a better choice...the challengers can make a post afterwards to defend the fight how they think it would play out, but keep it civil.

Metamorpho is an elemental superhero with the power to shape-shift his body into various forms, using the elements contained within the human body. He also possesses the power of virtual invulnerability.

Although Metamorpho's powers allow him to fight against evil, they are also a curse in that he is trapped in this hideous form, unable even to die; immortality.

He has extensive martial skills based upon actual combat experience with his unusual powers.

Shroud
(http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110109192024/marveldatabase/images/8/89/Shroud0.jpg)

Powers

The Shroud possesses the mystical ability to summon the absolute darkness of the Darkforce Dimension by opening a mystical portal into the Darkforce Dimension and drawing its thick, inky atmosphere in various quantities into Earth's dimension. This darkness is not simply the absence of light, but the negation of it. No illumination can penetrate it. It is unknown how much of this darkness the Shroud can summon at once. He can blanket a small auditorium in darkness within a several seconds. The darkness he projects does not fill a volume instantly: it is possible to see its hazy boundary move like thick, black smoke in the air. There appears to be no limit to the length of time the Shroud can maintain the darkness. However, if the Shroud is rendered unconscious the darkness seems to be naturally drawn through the portal from whence it came.

The Shroud has control over the darkness so as to create hazy-edged, featureless black shapes with it, the complexity of which is limited only by his imagination. He frequently forms the darkness into his own shadow in order to serve as a decoy. Unlike Darkstar's Darkforce, the darkness possesses no mass, and unlike Cloak, the Shroud is unable to travel into and out of the dimension from which he draws his darkness.

The Shroud possesses a mystical sense of perception enabling him to "see" even through his own mantle of darkness. This mystical sense gives him psychic impressions of his environment within a radius of about 100 feet of him. Unlike Daredevil, the Shroud can receive non-visual sensory impressions through solid objects. Thus, he can perceive people and objects in the room next to him with the ease that he can perceive the contents of the room he is in.

Abilities
The Shroud is an Olympic level athlete with extensive training in several styles of Asian martial arts, and is adept at acrobatics, infiltration and criminology.

Odd/obscure enough?  :)

This thread has fallen by the wayside of late.

Perhaps a revamp is in order?

We tried the popular vote, we tried the battle vote, what to try next?

How about establish a setting, with parameters, and then consider superheroes being thrown into the mix?

This would help with the home field advantage or if he were in the city/forest/etc. considerations.

So how about we ponder these considerations...

1. heavy jungle
2. tropical conditions including dramatic rain
3. local tribesmen with poison blowguns
4. several goal points that lead to an exit

Goal points are earned by defeating another super.

Final consideration...

5. supers can be heroes or villains

That said...no gods or icons beyond reproach...so no Superman, no Thanos.

Let us consider the middle ground players.

Spiderman wins.

The next setting is a fully automated danger room in the functional shape of a maze...as the character makes it through the maze the danger room activates challenges and obstacles...or perhaps a place built by Arcade...the end result is the same.

As much as he is not a favorite of mine, nor is he really a hero...but he does desire to be a good guy so that has some value and I am curious to who you guys would see as a worthy opponent for him...

Daken

Daken has superhuman strength, reflexes, endurance, longevity and sensory acuity, and an advance healing factor (the extent of which is yet to be determined). He possesses three retractable bone claws housed within each hand: two dorsal and one Palmar below the wrist.

Daken can disguise his own scent to the point where even Wolverine's hyper-senses cannot detect him. He is a trained assassin highly skilled in espionage, and was taught many forms of armed combat by Cyber. He is also an excellent tracker and is very fluent in German.

He also possesses pheromone manipulation that suppresses his scent and alters emotions and sensory perception of others, e.g. sexual attraction, psychotic rage, rational thinking, etc

Daken's mind is naturally resistant to telepathic probes and assaults.
