Maybe black to bring continuity to the whole piece?

Oh, well that would make it VERY easy to do. I could do something similar to what I did for the 'throttle'...I still have the scrap piece that I used to experiment on.

Thanks for the idea! I'll probably work on that later on tonight when things get quiet again Wink

I admit, I had something more like this in mind when I read the description (without all the extraneous crap, of course), but I have to say, what you've done there looks absolutely amazing!

I really like the emitter you've got, and the ideas for the washers around the color and retention screws is a great one!

Yeah, that would have been really cool! Thanks Oramac, it was a lot of fun to plan out, research, and build.

Those would be cool. And for the handle, you could easily do what I did for my pommel...cut a bit off and then glue the main part in place.

First of all, I have to say that in the best way possible...it looks like a piece of junk.  Just like it should!  I really like how you used junk parts from other things to build this saber, just like Corran.  It's not a pretty saber, but then again it shouldn't be.  I personally would want some black or a raised area on the emitter, it looks a little too much like a piece of pipe for me, but that's my taste.

However, your solution for the color changing blade is AMAZING!  Very creative.  Good work on this saber!

Thanks Jabari, I'm glad that you don't think it's a pretty saber Cheesy Never thought I'd say that about one of my builds lol. I'm also glad that you like my 'device'. I'm still unsure as to what I should call it, so for now it is simply 'the device' lol.

As to the emitter being too plain and pipe-like, I actually made some alterations tonight as per Rel's suggestions. I'll be uploading pics in the next few minutes so keep an eye out for those!

Sorry about the double post, but I wanted the pics separate from the comments I just made.

I'm a little iffy about the single piece of electrical tape right at the emitter, but I do like the addition of the other grip section above the 'device'. By the way, I swung the saber around a bit in the basement after doing the modifications, and it feels great! It's so lightweight and feels like an extension of my arm. I also added washer-like rings underneath the screws. I actually took some eyes (as in hook and eye) and cut off the threaded section. That left me with just the circular part which fit perfectly. Let me know what you folks think of the updates!

This is a stupendously horrid photoshop (took all of 5 minutes) but it's something that was already mentioned, and I think might look better than just a piece of electrical tape at the emitter.

Bonus points if you can weld it in place!  lol

Thanks for the pic. I'm still not completely sold on the gear though. I will probably take the single strip of tape off of the emitter though...it's just not sitting well with me.

What about a large washer or something of the sort to complete the "handle bar" look?

Just a suggestion, I actually think it looks perfectly fine the way it is
