I never regreted anything i did out of true and honest compassion and love.

One thing I am noticing as I engage in these, often futile, jedi/sith discussions is how the jedi-minded are quite free with the insults towards their darker counterparts, whereas you see we Sith-minded being far less openly insulting about the jedi. Curious that.
It's not that the Jedi-minded individuals are insulting the Sith, they are speaking the facts. Sith being selfish, cruel, and evil are not subjective opinions, they are canonical facts. Once again, you and many of the other "sith-sided" RPers on here would never make it as a Sith. Dark Jedi? Yes. Sith? No. The Sith have no remorse about slaying someone for the slightest sign of weakness. Training as a Sith is a "damned if you, damned if you don't" kind of life. It depends on who you do and do not offend or follow.
In the same manner none of us "jedi-sided" RPers would never be good enough or selfless enough for the Jedi order. Like Relmeob stated.

That's what being self-righteous gets you.

One of the reasons why I distrust the Jedi is that they style themselves as good guys. History has shown us that whenever one group thinks they are absolutely good and the group they're fighting against absolutely evil, atrocities result. Why should Star Wars be any different?

I have a Sith's opinion of the Jedi and a Jedi's opinion of the Sith.

funny that, I've noticed it myself lol. Even Jedi can't be perfect.
I agree rel, extremely few ppl in real life who identify themselves with one path or the other will take it to the extremes. We act to varying degrees down either path, and few ppl will ever stick purely to one path or another. And noone can deny Lucas created a universe in which Jedi are meant to be seen as good, sith as bad.
if you go as ideals, then I'm somewhere down the path of the Jedi. I don't believe in all the doctrine of the order and whatever, but I identify with the jedi far more than the sith.
as just one point, I don't believe in only looking out for yourself, I believe in helping others. Doesn't mean I'm going to throw my life away just to help another.
When someone lives a certain way with certain ideas they become protective of those ideas Jedi even more so. But yes I know what you mean

Sigh.

After the better part of an hour of typing I lost my post to the aether...connection lost at the last second...a glitch...perhaps karma.

The gist...literally the long story made short...

If you are in a place in life where the aspect of the sith brings you any happiness then that is great.  But when this fantasy, and that is what it is, becomes something more well then the true nature of the sith comes to light...corruption.

The Jedi worship can also be counter productive if taken too seriously.

In the end, fantasy can be a wonderful tool to work through the struggle of daily life.

As restrictive as the Jedi pinnacle can be, they are still agents of order and goodness.  I would seek to reform some of the structure to allow relationships/marriage and making the recruitment a voluntary process, but as a whole I can get behind the Jedi principles.

If you are in a place in life that the sith bring you some strength to get through the day...well we all struggle through life and to each their own.

I choose the path of the Jedi.

But if your argument is this is fantasy well remember we can retreat here to fantasy but if you take that to the outside world more than fantasy there's a problem.

I honestly think that the Old Republic is the most "strict/gung-ho" we've ever seen the Jedi Order, and thus what most of us refer to. The prequel Jedi werent so uptight or "cold" that we make Jedi out to be. Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Anakin, even Yoda, all had energetic personalities. They all knew how to smile or to even crack a joke here and there. If you discredit the Old Republic, the Jedi we are familiar with were closer to normal people than we make them out to be.

I live life by the sith code philosophy that you follow it to be on top gaining power and not force power just status in life. Even tho it talks about victory not always a victory of battle it can mean more like for me competing to be the best at what I do and I am.  Cool

i think there's an essential difference between Sith & Jedi here. Jedi do EVERYTHING for others; they are NEVER the motivating factor in their actions, therefore, they are living vicariously through others & without them, would have no purpose. Sith are self-motivated, bettering themselves & becoming stronger for no other reason than themselves! Yes, it's selfish, though i think self-centred is a better term; subtle difference. A Sith needs no-one to validate their quest for improvement & needs no-one else's approval either. This is what i aspire to.

Like Relmeob said, the Jedi are people who do good for the sake of it, and the Sith are evil and selfish. But if one code, or the way you interpret it, or the other gets you by in day to day activities, then by all means go for it.

There is a conquest of self-gain that all Sith pursue. To dominate and control over others. They need to reinforce in their minds that they are better, and stronger than anyone else. The Jedi aren't so selfless as to become helpless. As I said, it really is only Old Republic Era jedi that are so uptight and gung-ho. Jedi have no need to feel better or stronger than others. Sith feel passion and anger carelessly, but they will never know what it is like to be able to trust someone. All Sith are traitors to one another, and eventually all Sith will meet their end due to the negative emotions and thoughts they have embraced their whole quest.
