This sounds almost like a chef's toolkit roll, just extended in size.
honestly couldn't answer that. I work in automotive parts and accessories retail hence saying its like a tool roll, plus ive got pencil cases that are similar but with elastic to keep the pencils in place. I was restricted with the size of the pieces of fabric I had since I basically made this on the cheap with scrap bits otherwise id probably have made it with a deeper pocket at the bottom and top- I think the calico only cost a few bucks, so did the wadding, assuming the wadding wasn't some I pulled out of the cupboard, really don't remember. either way for me this was a quick thing to knock up and won't win any awards for prettiness. Does the job nicely for me however and I figure it could hold 8 or so sabers at the size I've made it- though with 7 sabers it is a bit heavy. And the bonus is its adjustable, so if I'm only wanting to transport a couple of sabers I'm not still lugging around the same big bag and it folds down small for storage.
The wadding is sandwiched between the calico inner and brown material outer, whatever the brown material is, suiting fabric I think from memory. It was stitched into place onto the calico, then the calico and brown stitched together with the wadding on the outside- so that when it was turned inside out so the hems were all hidden, the wadding was on the inside. Stitched up the open side, folded the top and bottom over and sewed them in place to make the pockets, then sewed some of whatever it was I've used for the ties in the three locations. Easy as! I went with wadding so that it'd gave them a little more padding from being bumped and damaged.
As an example, with four of my sabers chucked in.
