Hi everyone!

I have searched around but am unable to find the answer to my question.

I was wondering if the Catalyst is able to be fitted with quick disconnects? I would love to get that hilt, but I want two colors for it and don't really want to go to the extreme of using the Emerald Driver.

Thanks for any help you can offer

Hey Isola815,

I have Catalyst - great hilt.

The LED module in that particular hilt is slightly different than the others, so while it is possible to do the QD thing, you'd need to be sure that your new module was the same.

I believe that's the only issue though.  I could be mistaken.

Hope it works for you. Smiley

RevanReborn did an amazing customization of a Catalyst.  He would know for sure since he's our Forum saber cram-fu specialist and Technomancer of the Graflex Order.  Smiley

And welcome to the forum community.  Are you drawn to the light or the dark side of the Force ?

Here's Rev's awesome saber.  Cheesy

Thanks for the replies so far! And thank you for the welcome Smiley

I am drawn to both sides, hence my desire for two colors!

I have, over the last couple of weeks purchased two sabers to use as photography props for some cosplay shoots I want to do. But it has made me want to get my own saber too! Partly because to get a good feel for the shoot I have written a backstory for my model's character which has helped me piece together her costume and get some angles/poses and shots in my mind that I want to do. So I kind of got myself addicted... Whoops!

I have my (down the track) eye on a Guardian in SRD or AS, but until then I am looking at a Dark Catalyst to have SRD and FO... if I can get both colors then that way I may try and do a shoot with myself in front of the camera with myself being the darker role and my model as the hero. It would be a fun photography challenge to be in front of the camera and behind it at the same time Smiley and then when I'm not busy trying to kill a Jedi, I'd like to have my DC on display with the SRD (or maybe even do a prequel shoot of my character...)

Hello there! UltraSabers doesn't offer Quick Disconnects on the Catalyst because it's not an MLS compatible hilt. The MLS LED units currently fit into the Bane, War Glaive, Dark War Glaive, Arbiter, Dark Arbiter, Consular, Archon v2, Bellicose, Shock LE, Dark Shock, Manticore, Overlord and Raven.  Hope that helps a bit.  Have a great day!

^ This and the setup of the saber is unique among the Ultrasabers lineup - if I remember correctly, the LED doesn't sit inside the body but between the body and emitter, inside the choke. This makes it difficult to a) disassemble the saber and use the choke and the crowned emitter on another saber and b) change the LED.

Ok, so the Catalyst.

Racona Nova is quite correct.  The LED is in fact in the neck.  The lens/optic is in the emitter however:

Undoing the thinner neck, or choke shows this though:

I'm thinking a QD would be possible - difficult, but possible.

You'd just need the same sized LED star.

Thanks Lord Rapine, but I was hoping I could one shipped to me ready to rock and roll straight out of the box. Not looking like that will happen so I'll keep having a think about what to do Smiley

US added quick disconnects to both my Catalysts on request. Check with them that they'll still do this, but I would imagine it's fine.

It's likely not a standard option as they use LEDs that no other hilt design uses - they can only swap with one another, so mine are always in orange and red. I would imagine US could sell additional Catalyst LEDs separately, but I've never checked and as they'd be sending them out without the protective housing I'd be concerned about damage (although I'm sure US would package it securely!).

To be honest, I haven't had the greatest run of luck with my e-mails with US when I have questions. I must come off as a difficult customer or something because even my simple requests seem to get overlooked if I ask more than one question in the same e-mail.

Guess it just means I buy less products when it really comes down to it, which is a shame as I kind of like this addiction, and they would be great to keep in my prop kit for photos... But if I've not had the best of luck so far with basic questions, I don't want to even think how much of a hassle I'd be if I started asking about options not listed on their web site  Cry

I decided to order a Dark Catalyst in TRI FIRE ORANGE and a Prophecy V3 in SD. I think I will customise the Pv3 hilt with some leather wrap and a different pommel and keep my Dark Catalyst for my display piece (so I ordered a stand to go with it).

I also took the oportunity to enter the raffle, becauae why not!

I would like to again, thank everyone for their help and input.

If anyone is interested, I will post some photos from the cosplay shoot after it's done in December  Smiley

I kind of don't understand Isola815,

Did we not answer all of your questions?

Sending emails directly to US is the best way to get the answer to specific question, but sometimes it will take some time to get a response - especially when they're in the middle of a raffle, and have just released two new hilts.
Multiple questions in one email do tend to be overlooked - I see it as they've barely got time to read the darned thing.
That's why we're here. Smiley

We can answer the questions that would get posed by thousands of people, and fill US's inbox.

Great choices there - you will not be disappointed. Smiley I own both of those sabers.
