chan...a weird mix mash in modern use...children, girls, and those considered kawaii or cute/appealing
san or han...is the common for mr, mrs, and ms
kun...the inferior of male, used to defer an adult's status or note a boy
dono...honorific title, a lord or magister
shi...very polite reference to a stranger with respect
sama...polite and proper usage higher than san
hakase...most often referring to highly educated professionals such as professors and doctors
hikoku...a demotion title reserved for criminals and deviants
sensei...noted position due effort, education, and/or experience often reserved for teachers
iemoto...senior among sensei within a grouping of the same
senpai...a title used when addressing a proper senior, such as an upper classmate
kouhai...a title given to those junior in rank, such as seniors to freshmen
There are so many more, and then there are the nuances and combining...best to give small gift, wrapped in plain white paper, with a clean red ribbon, bow, smile (without teeth showing).
