Your boldness...
I like it.
I'm pondering expanding on it into an outline of the prequels and putting it somewhere. So far, the biggest change I have is to make Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan compatriots, rather than Master/Padawan. So Obi-Wan may be a former apprentice of Qui-Gon's but he's a fully fledged Knight in the first movie, rather than just a padawan who's still learning. Qui-Gon asks Obi-Wan why he doesn't have a padawan yet, despite being a Knight for a few years now early on in the film.
"I don't feel I'm ready, Master."
"Qui-Gon. Ben, we've been equals in the eyes of the Force for three years now, you can stop with the formalities."
"Forgive me, Master Qui-Gon. Old habits die hard."
"Heh. It's alright, my friend. In the meantime, give thought to taking on an apprentice! You're a great jedi and a good friend, Obi-Wan. And I look forward to seeing many Knights come from your teachings when I sit upon the council!"
"Ambition is unbecoming of a Jedi, my friend."
"Yes, well, if you listen to some of the council, I'm not a very good Jedi now am I?"
"Very true, Master. When this business on Naboo is finished, I'll meditate on taking on a padawan."
Anakin is already a Jedi who comes into the picture when the Jedi first arrive back on Coruscant, where he's waiting in the Jedi Hangar, fixing ships or having just come back from a mission, piloting the ship himself. He's Qui-Gon's new padawan, and he was on assignment from the Council. Later in the movie, Qui-Gon is struck down and Anakin watches, much like Obi-Wan was forced to do. Anakin reacts with anger and dips into the Dark Side to become stronger than the Sith who kills his master. He dips a bit further to try and revive his master, who's already dead. Obi-Wan comes back onto the scene, having dealt with protecting other people, sees what happened, and puts a hand on Anakin's shoulder.
"He's gone, Anakin."
"I wasn't strong enough! I should've been stronger..."
"No! No, you didn't fail him and you were stronger than any Jedi I've seen in a long time. He was *my* master too, Anakin."
"He deserved better than this."
"Don't worry, my young friend. He'll receive a proper funeral and the council will decide what to do next about this sith you mention."
"What about me? What about my training?"
"I.. I will speak to the council about taking you on as my Padawan."
