Okay, so I finally got around to seeing The Babadook.
Frankly, I don't see the love. Granted, it was a decent film, but everyone was talking it up like it was the Second Coming of Horror Jesus.
It was pretty much mediocre and somewhat predictable.

I was woefully unimpressed by that movie. I don't even remember half of it, it was so lame. I saw "The Conjuring 2" last weekend and that was better.

I think the biggest disappointment was the use of stock monster sounds. I heard that screech and immediately flashed to Sharptooth from The Land Before Time.

Yeah, I saw it. Looks promising, if they don't screw it up.

I'm hoping they don't, because the original short film was absolutely terrifying.

well it's actually the writer and director of the original short, but given a bigger budget. from what i've seen (and we all know trailers can be misleading) it looks to have captured the magic of the short and ramped it up a few notches too. personally it is my most anticipated horror movie in years

It scared the holy sh*t out of me and that's hard to do. I want to be terrified, dammit.

Exactly. The last movie that scared me that bad was Darkness Falls.

There is only one thing I hate more than hallways, and that is dark hallways; we have Darkness Falls to thank for that.

No, you're good. You're just enured to the notion that it's all fictional. We all remember our first horror movie, right? Or at least the first one to truly terrify you? Let's move the discussion over here, to the "Horror Movie" thread: http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=29998.15

Just especially for you, Kham... Also, did you ever see the video short that Darkness Falls was based on? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzZ2TyaeHiI(Linked for reasons that will become apparent)

Horror films don't really phase me, I've been through enough encounters with scary stuff that fake stuff just doesn't cut it.
