Good for you on your first weathering and welcome to the customization club. I'd leave it be for a while then see if you want to distress this saber even more. My only suggestion is to try not to weather it in more larger areas... but in smaller bits for a more natural effect. Was the surface entirely done with sand paper ? I see some edges cut out from the emitter tongs. Perhaps try a stippling effect using your dremel ... just moderately lightly and randomly scattered throughout the saber for more dimension/depth. point

This was an all sandpaper job, just alternating between means of application( i used a small molded sponge thing, and also just full hand). For touching up the emitter chunk- i used some small hand-files. And the rotary tool is indeed the next step!🤘🏻 I weathered in all the spots where my hands grip/move along the saber while weilding. My main focus was to grey out the whole thing a bit, just to give it a more neutral feel( because i’m a big fan of the grey/ rogue jedi style), then go hard for the high-traffic areas. Hi again. That idea of showing more wear on the areas of your hand grip did cross my mind. Nicely done. Will look forward to seeing the next level rotary tool distressing. The main thing is that you like what you have done and wielding your own unique saber is a great feeling. I borrow inspiration and know how from other customizers more often than not.

Nicely done. I haven't yet tried any type of weathering, but someday I might.

The main thing is that you like what you have done and wielding your own unique saber is a great feeling. I borrow inspiration and know how from other customizers more often than not. Absolutely! You, Drahcir, and Therion have all given me some serious inspiration and i appreciate all the input😁 I’ve dubbed this saber “Thorn”, and let me tell you it feels even better to wield than it did before🤘🏻 not just for pride’s sake, but actually feels like it moves more smoothly in my grip when i swap grips and such. I’m looking forward to getting back to it- but moreso starting on the next project!(whatever that may be) I’d like to do a from scratch build-(i replaced my first battery pack, so now i’m all cocky😉) And thanks everyone else for the awesome words!🤙🏻 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

From scratch builds can be challenging in their own ways, Elwood. But, take your time, plan it out first, and you should do just fine.
Also, take full advantage of any resources you can for instruction

Insight appreciated🤙🏻 i’m not one to dive in gung-ho minus a plan, so i’ve got that going for me. The biggest boon will indeed be the resources right here on the forums! So thanks in advance for the advice i’m sure i’ll ask for in the future😉 Cheers to the tinkerers and creators out there that refuse to let good enough be enough!🤘🏻 May the force be with you, sir!
