Who watches the watchmen?

I have had this chunk of plastic around for a while. It is pretty thick and has been dueled with a fair bit, hence the chips out of the edges. Decided to etch myself a tsuba. Filled in the lines with some fluorescent permanent marker. I am happy with it.

That looks so unique! Brilliant idea, man. -1 Point

“You think you know the depths of corruption that plague the Jedi?” Saso hissed. “I’ve seen it, I’ve experienced it, I even embody it. Every breath I take is an affront to their lofty ideals and idle Force worship… and so they seek to exterminate me.” He looked deep into Barriss Offee’s eyes, “they were not successful in purging me from the galaxy, and neither will you be.”

Outside edges are all beveled and corners are rounded. Not at all sharp.

Tension. You have to twist it on to the blade. After that, it does not weigh enough for it to move.

DC, I love the concept!  I think the only thing additional I might do to that would be to use a very fine grinder and round it off along the outer circle, make the piece itself round as the pattern is round.  It would look like part of the saber blade forming the Tsuba.  :-)

Is this more for show or intended to hold up to combat? And stay put? I frequently use an aluminum tsuba with 3 retention screws for sparring and even that has popped off a few times as a result of brisk dueling.

It stays on. Dueling is how it got those chips out of it. The fit is too tight for it to slide and it does not weigh enough to have gravity or centripetal force try to pull it off while swinging.

I like it! The fluorescent marker really sets it off. I like nihontō so much I might have to figure out what I think the perfect hilt would be to make my own. I like the Ninja-To look of the square tsuba. I'm thinking black suede along the entire hilt and Adegan Silver for the blade, a colour which I have never been interested in before. Thanks for the inspiration!
