So... After about a year of wondering why this show was so popular, I just finished the first episode.
I can understand why it's popular, but I think I'm still on the fence about it... Gonna watch a few more just to be sure.

Pretty much. I didn't see the first episode however, I saw "The Last Roundup" because I read that one of the pony's develops a demonic voice, which is true, twice. With pop-cultural references galore and cuteness abound I found it incredibly difficult to stop watching. |

An oldie, but a goodie. You know, I too was in the same situation in the beginning before but after maybe the 1st or 2nd season I really didn't care what my housemates thought of me when watching the show. In fact, I was almost empowered by their protest against it. I swear, I think this show actually made me more confident in expressing myself and doing the things that I actually enjoy doing rather than doing the thing's that I'm "supposed to do" based on some unwritten standard somewhere. That is to say, there's a time and place for everything and I'm much more relaxed and reserved when it comes to downright telling people I watch the show or read the comics then I was when I initially began watching the show. Honestly, if it ever comes to anything in regards to others finding out, you then proceed to show them the best episode in your opinion that shows the overall message of the show [for me it's always The Last Roundup], and 7 times out of 10 they usually say that "it wasn't so bad". Little do they know that the addiction has begun to fester as well, just like with all of us.  The only time it doesn't work is if the person in question absolutely refuses to even watch the show to begin with, or if the person is a huge fan of the pony.mov series, which only means that their mind is diluted, or they instantly talk about some 4chan clopper stuff they read somewhere at sometime. But most people and the results associated are pretty neutral or in favor of the show in the long run, but especially with the overall message and themes the show provides. This is actually what happened with showing it to my parents and my family, most predominately my 3 year old niece and 1 year old nephew. Childhood memories, identity, and likings already in the making. |

I have two year old grand daughter... She seriously loves her some My Little Pony. She now has all the Build-a-Bear MLP offerings. She and I often sit together on the couch and watch many episodes together (thank you netflix) and I have to admit, it's a fun show and very easy to get caught up in. I'm pretty sure she just likes the zany antics of the ponies, I, on the other hand, am totally engrossed in the complex storylines and the character development. Ok, I'll admit it, I love it.
