I totally dig that people keep the forums in the shots when they drop saber pics.  Completely legit!

Well, I can't well have customer proprietary information up on there, can I?   ;-)

Quick question for those of you with Violet Amethyst sabers: Does the color in real life look white-ish to you? The photos in this thread look so rich and vibrant, but I just got my first sabers and they don't look quite like that to my eye.

Still a great color, but far closer to white than a vibrant purple.  But my color disc experiments have been a success in getting a rich Blue or Red out of the VA. I've even managed to get a hot pink/BH and a dark blueish purple (BVA?).
Just wondering if this white-ish hue is common or if it's just my sabers?

I had the same experience.  I was looking forward to a purple blade but it was very light and not vibrant at all.  It was a basic set up though using AAA batteries, dunno if that made a difference.

Mine are 4xAAA stunts.  What I have found is that the purple (and other colors) can look milky or washed out in the Ultra Edge blades.   Especially to the eye.  UE blades ROCK for photography, but to the eye they often look a little washed and white-ish, while to the eye the standard blades look more vibrant but tend to "white out" in photos.

This seems particularly true of purples, reds, oranges and yellows for some reason.

They also look more washed out under full light.  I tend to take photos of mine with the lights dimmed or even off to maximize their effect.

I have only UE heavy Grade in Consular Green. I don't know if this is true for all colors or blade types, but i find that for the naked eye you still see it as a solid saber. a colored tube. You can't see that white-greenish hue like watching a green filament. That wouldn't be cool anyway...not to be able to look at your saber more that a few seconds. So i think that might be it for some people. Their eyes see the blade as a coloured tube, not like a pure beam of light. The pictures and videos look absolutely brilliant. Just like in the movies. I would post a video here, but it's to big and imgur doesn't support file that large.

Since this is the purple blade topic, i've posted the two short clips in the green blades topic.

excuse the clumsiness in handling the saber. It is my first ever and there were only 2-3 days since I had it at that moment.

So a Violet Amethyst Scorpion is now possibly after May, can't wait Tongue Which blade type do you guys usually prefer for purples though, Ultra Edge or standard? Or if there is still a purple led color issue I might try the Blue Violet Amethyst

I can't wait too!! I like the UE for the cooler colors, with that said VA works good with both since it has hot and cold LEDs mixed but I do lean towards the UE blade for my VA sabers
