The new Tantive IV set is pretty sweet as well. Did a trek to my local Lego Store and snagged it.
It's a beast of a project though - you need about 3.5 - 4 hours to complete.

I've done the TFA Falcon and the 6211 Star Destroyer, both of which were also pretty complex builds. The Falcon's at work currently, while the Destroyer is at home. I realized I had a lot of Imperial ships, and wanted to start building more Rebels to balance out. The Tantive IV comes with Bail Organa, Captain Antilles, Rebel Trooper, C3P0, R2D2, and Leia (with options for either dress or pants). SMALL COMPLAINTS: I was also surprised to see the UCS set relied on stickers applied by hand, rather than Lego doing what I have seen in other sets to print the decals onto the pieces (which I think would create a more uniform look). I also wish that Lego would build more of the pieces like they did the Naboo Starfighter, which came with instructions on how to build a base for the ship to rest on. |

Didn't have the old set to compare. That IS the Star Destroyer set I managed to find at a con last year at $200, which is about half of what I've seen them going for on auction sites/Amazon. So, for size comparison, the new Tantive IV is about as long as that Star Destroyer. I do wish they'd build some additional Rebel Fleet ships, like the Calamari Cruiser, Nebulon-B or Gallofree Transport. The Resistance Bomber seems like it would be close enough to the Nebulon B's shape, and with the importance of them in Rogue One and the end of ESB, I'm surprised they've not made one. And while there was a Home One set, it was just the command deck, not the ship itself. We've seen both Imperial and FO Star Destroyer, Krennic's Shuttle, Ren's Command Shuttle, Death Stars, but not that much comparable on the Rebel side... |
