An individual may die, but the Sith are eternal.

« on: January 14, 2016, 06:04:34 PM »

Saber was scheduled for delivery tomorrow, organized the day off work, no problem!

Get an email today at 4pm saying my saber had been delivered to someone with a name i don't recognise.. at my address? but to a receptionist/front desk.

So much wrong here. Bahaha /FACEPALM

I have no neighbours, and there's no discrepancies with my address or delivery details. I even contacted them on live support chat to provide additional delivery information and provide my phone number... not that anybody listened or the driver bothered to actually call me.

I've contacted Fedex and they are baffled and can't get hold of the driver and sadly i have to wait until tomorrow to find out what's gone on.

Just my luck  Roll Eyes

Had to post something if anything just to vent a little at the frustration of this! Why Fedex allowed someone to sign on my behalf for something, clearly not at my home i have no idea.

This isn't a rant at US at all, purely the fail on Fedex's behalf right now lol.

Will update tomorrow if i manage to track down my MIA saber. Fingers are crossed.

That really sucks!

Hopefully everything will work out and you'll get your saber soon!

That's odd, Fedex is usually pretty sharp. Hope it gets resolved.

Hi Lev.  Sorry to hear about this.  Thought that the private delivery companies had stricter guidelines.  Hope you get your saber soon or a monetary reimbursement.  I'd be wanting to do a Kylo Ren right now on FedEx but hope they get this sorted out.  Perhaps the info was accidently placed on your delivery # package and yours is still coming.

+1 point to you for remaining civilized inspite of your understandable frustrations.   Wink

Cheers all!

I confirmed it was definitely delivered... somewhere... and to someone! Just crazy how it was confirmed at my address to a front desk/receptionist? Wish they had phoned me today.

Sadly couldn't obtain much more info than this from Fedex. I would of welcomed the "system error" mumbo jumbo to have it still deliverable tomorrow Tongue Especially as i'm sat at home off work tomorrow now! haha.

Sitting tight though, hopefully they'll track it down or pay my money back.

Here's hoping the mystery can be solved tomorrow!

For your sake, I hope they can track it down.
Pretty lax, in some ways.  I do hope someone hasn't absconded with your saber.  Even getting the money back and re-ordering would be annoying...

Hoping it all works out for you!

I had an issue with Fed Ex as well. I got the premium shipping and it said specifically on the order (from US to FedEx) that a signature was required. The day the saber came I happened to be home and heard the truck coming down the street. The doorbell rang and I excitedly rushed to the door. When I opened it, the driver was already driving off and left my package in full view of all of my neighbors. Now I'm not saying I don't trust people in my neighborhood (quite the contrary), but it really pissed me off that I didn't even get a chance to sign when it was supposedly required. For most packages, I'm not a big stickler but when it's a $300+ lightsaber, that's a whole other story. Anyway, I really hope your situation gets fixed and if not, you need to raise holy hell to FedEx.

Another example of why mine will be held at a FedEx location and NOT being delivered to my house.  I figure the nonresidential drivers will have fewer stops, a signature always happens, plus they typically offload several packages for the same FedEx Office every day.  It's an address the courier on that route is going to know on sight.

Lev, has FedEx given you a case number for the package trace?  Also, what kind of signature was required--indirect or direct?  If it was DSR, then it absolutely should have gone to your address and been taken back to the station if not signed for.  If it was ISR, which is not impossible if the declared value of your saber was under $500, then a neighbor could well have signed for it.  Somehow I doubt UltraSabers would send it ISR though.

It almost sounds to me like one of two scenarios happened to you: one, there is a business or FedEx location on your driver's route and it mistakenly got in with their regular dropoff, or two, someone falsely signed for it.  The former is more likely--but what type of shipping did you have exactly (Ground, 2-day, standard overnight, or priority) and are you in or near a major city?  (Do not need to know which city.)  I know you said the email occurred at 4, but what does your tracking info show for the exact dropoff time?  I'm asking because the commit time to a business for afternoon services is 3 pm in the cities, which makes a 4 pm signature to a business odd since that 3-8 pm window is normally for residential deliveries.

Also, I would expect that if FedEx did screw it up irretrievably they will work through UltraSabers, not you, though it wouldn't do any harm for you to try to get the refund directly.  If they won't and your package cannot be found, give US both the original tracking number AND the package trace number (essentially your case number), since it may make it easier on US to file a claim if you can give them an existing trace instead of them having to open a new one.

(I worked a lot with shipping in a previous job which is why I ask you such specific questions.)

Oh wow! That's awful. Especially as you paid for premium, was lucky you were home.

I live in the middle of a town, and unfortunately down a road that is busy and not the most pleasant! If it had got left outside then it's 110% stolen I would place money on it :/

FedEx have reported it's been signed for by some random apparently called "A. Smith" , could be legit and hope it is! But it even sounds like a made up name lol. I'm just overly worrying I guess but it's a $360 saber. Whoever has signed for it hasn't left a note for me, or made any contact tonight now that I'm home with the lights on.. so it's not the most positive signs.

Again, I just wish they'd called me or taken the time to make sure the person signing for it actually knew me, or was a resident at my property. I won't trust them as much from mow on, that's for sure.

Still, I'm trying to keep a positive head, although it's made me glum this evening and I feel very restless!

That's a possibility. I live in the middle of town, very busy. I only paid for standard shipping. -_- had no problem whatsoever with the last saber I purchased.

FedEx told me the items value was listed at $50.. which I queried and told them I'd paid $360. Not sure what the deal is there, but this may of affected how they treated my parcel.

The email I received at 4pm, but the drop off was apparently 1pm roughly.

The DV comes from US' end.  If they declare over $100 DV, they get charged for it...unless that's been revised down to $50 since I last did shipping stuff.  That said, if a package is DSR, someone who knows about shipping would actually be likely to suspect your package was valued at upwards of $500, since at that level of declared value or higher, DSR is mandatory.  Even if US is not paying for the extra declared value, people would be likely to assume it was worth MORE than it really was just by virtue of that.

Still, I think the more likely scenario is your package got mixed in with a nonresidential delivery.

I didn't know that. Hm, well I hope you are right! They may be able to track it down if so. Ahhh, fingers are crossed but this is already feeling like a longggg night. Lol

Obviously the Dark Side possibility is someone took the package on a presumption of higher value than it had.  But hopefully it was a mere mixup and you'll hear more as FedEx traces the package.

Also, as I edited into an earlier post, do get the trace number from FedEx if you can.  That's your case number from the trace agent who is working with you.  That way if worst case scenario, US needs to initiate a shipping claim, you may be able to give them the number of an existing trace instead of them having to go through a whole runaround of initiating a new one.

Oh...and it's a good thing you went Express.  My impression is that Express runs a tighter ship than any other parcel service.  I hope that means they'll have a quicker answer to you.

I had Fed Ex deliver it all the way across town to a paint supply store, and I work at a bank.

Delivery status was the absolute same, delivered to receptionist. The store had no similar names or anything that would make me think it was just a goof in reading the label wrong. Me thinks the package size was more what that business usually sees, instead of just reading the label.

Good for you for remaining calm, I would have had major anxiety about where my saber was, and who was wielding it without my permission. The only way I found out was the store that got it called me before Fed Ex realized how they dropped the ball.

Btw, no reimbursement or compensation was offered for having to drive down there to get it myself. Oh well. Good Luck.

FGJ, the delivery company is not going to compensate the recipient, generally.  If they had to, they would typically compensate the sender.

Glad your saber was found though!
