and let us not forget the awful body suit too. SO many things with that movie. And Wolverine: Origins.
I really recommend watching First Class and DOFP. First Class is really good (and has Kevin Bacon in it!!! I mean, c'mon. KEVIN BACON). And DOFP while inspired by the storyline not an exact adaptation does a good job of resetting the timeline. Plus, if you liked the Quicksilver scene in Apocalypse then see the first and (in my opinion) best sequence.
Theatrical or Rogue Cut? I like both, but I'm a completist, so the extra little bits added to the Rogue Cut made the movie just that much better to me; without it though DOFP is still as solid as it ever was.

haven't seen the rogue cut so can't comment. but the movie is solid and stands up to repeated viewings. the commentary is great too.

I just watched "First Class." I had skipped it for fear of not enjoying the casting, but after seeing the newest one, I decided to give a shot. Very glad I did. Great movie! Fassbender's Magneto sat well with me this time.

Good for you! And I have to say that Fassbender and McAvoy are worthy successors to the Magneto/Xavier mantle. I really buy their friendship and opposition. and how GREAT was the cameo? Biggest laugh in the whole movie

I think it makes her look like peacock, which is appropriate since the peacock is associated with Hera, and Hera is the goddess of Women. I was thinking peacock as well, but didn't make that connection. Sounds plausible!

It actually reminded me very much of the dynamic between Obi-Wan and Anakin that is often lost on screen, but comes across well in "Clone Wars" and also in the novels. "Erik, no." "Erik, YES." Magneto has always been one my favorite villains because . . . he's not really a villain to me. He and Darth Vader have a lot in common. Fassbender did a great job. And I LAUGHED at that cameo, oh my god.

Stan Lee always said that Xavier was loosely based on Martin Luthor King and Magneto on Malcolm X. Both want to achieve the same thing but in radically different ways. And the cameo still gets me every time. And I LOVE the look of Azazel. Such a badass. Finally, the whole scene of Magneto hunting nazis was basically Fassbender's audition for James Bond! lol

(Do we have an X-Men thread? Because I have a mighty need . . . )
That's a REALLY good comparison between Charles and Erik, now that you've mentioned it. I can totally see that.

there is no x-men thread, as far as I know. there was a comic thread i think, but it kinda fizzled. how about a comic book movie thread? Comic Book movie thread is now up and running. I even copied over the past few conversations on here about X-Men to get us started (because it's 1am and I have nothing to do tomorrow) http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=31576.new#new

During a time like that, even when I lose I win. It's kind of funny, though. I've just recently started showing them some episodes of The Clone Wars, and now my 4 year old tells me I hit his armor every time I tap him.
