Wow. That was shady as F***. The article also lead me to the article in 2018 that talked about Ray Park and Daniel Logan quit the Legion over something. That should be a huge mark of shame for them...Darth Maul called you out on your crap. Since I don't follow costuming news I had no idea the 501st was like this. But this is a prime example of why I am not part of groups of any kind. No matter what it always devolves into cliques and politics. Why I left the S.C.A., I was there to fight....not kiss an imaginary Duke/Kings ass.

so I feel I provide a service offering a group to have fun, play up to fans, where we all go home with a smile. downfall of being open and welcoming is the from time to time less than wonderful member I have to put my foot down and be the bad guy.

That drama right there ensured I will never join the 501st....that and I've heard that some of their garrisons are not particularly LGBTQ+ friendly. The girlfriend is non-negotiable, she'll be around so better get used to having a lesbian couple nearby. Also their standards are off the chart, and I don't have the money to dump into a costume to meet them.
Saber Guild on the other hand...I'm trying to actually join them, but no money for costuming right now.
