This is how I like to get my sabers in the mail:

Don't mind the utility knife, it's just there to hold up the switch. Wink (plus, it was handy for opening the box and unwrapping the hilt)

I got this during the last Deal of the Day, which was $20 off the DSI. So, I got this fantastic hilt for $45, after adding $5 for the vented pommel. That's a real steal. Smiley Unfortunately, that's the wrong switch. As you can see, it has a silver button, indicating that it's momentary. (indeed, it clicks) But, I sent an e-mail to customer service and the always helpful Marlena got back to me a few short hours later, and my momentary switch will be in the mail shortly. Fantastic customer service, as always.

This is (obviously) going to be a build, though I haven't decided if it will include any cosmetic mods or not. I may actually just build this up as a quick stunt. I can always grab a black (or silver) non vented pommel from one of my other sabers, and save the vented one for a future sound upgrade. I have a Dominix LE V4 with Li-Ion batteries that's begging for an upgrade to Obsidian, and I think that pommel will look sharp on that hilt. Cheesy

Anyway, more to follow, possibly tonight, as I may get my build on here shortly.  Cool

SFD !!  Great to see you posting on the Forum.  You are waiting for a latching switch ?  Will look forward to seeing what customization you do for this empty DSI.  Smiley

Hey D7. I'm waiting for a momentary switch. It's not a huge deal. I'm sure it's easy enough to accidentally grab the wrong switch, as they likely have boxes of the things. Though, I may just do this one as a stunt.

Sorry... missed the switch entirely in the photo.  Guess utility knives aren't of interest to me lol.  Grin

So, this is mostly how I spent my night off. There was wiring, there was cussing, there was rewiring, there was sanding, filing, more sanding, more rewiring, and probably more cussing. This is the end result:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2wTougl0wg" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2wTougl0wg</a>

(there was also some Pandora radio and Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-Ray, just not at the same time Wink )

I really like this saber. It's interesting how it's basically a tube with a blade coming out of it and very few details, much like the sabers used in the movies for the wider shots, when the most acrobatic action was done with sabers. Usually, the actors were wielding painted tubes with rods coming out of them. They got fancier looking sabers for the close shots. The saber is very comfortable to wield and had a nice texture to it for grip, before I sanded that off. It's a little heavier than some of the lower end Ultrasabers, likely due to having less details and, therefore, less material removed. I find it balances well with a 32 inch heavy grade blade and it spins really nicely. Sadly, I'll probably never know how it performs in combat, but it's really cool. So, that's my project for the night.

That’s a great day off project there. Brown wrap looks real nice against the black.

Thanks guys.  Grin I've used that type of leather before. Different brand, though, so it's not quite that color. I definitely like how it looks against black sabers, not so much against silver ones. I've actually had it for months, I don't even remember what hilt I originally bought it for. It finally got used.  Cheesy
