I've known a handful of people in the 501st and they're either really cool who eventually leave due to drama like this or they're the ones causing drama making it hard for those to stick around. It's a shame, really. When you only care about quantity over quality. There's no point in being the largest costume club when you also have the largest amount of a holes within your ranks. That's fandom for you though, there's always going to be toxic fans and those that think they are high and mighty. But to treat Ray Park like they did a couple years ago? Yeah, that solidified my thoughts on them

Been debating starting my own YouTube channel, I just don't know what I'd do or post. Other than a whole bunch of randomness, I mean. Would make for a fun hobby, though. I dunno, we'll see.

You mean other than the normal reasons why most human beings aren't fans of change? I'd say it's mostly due to the fact that a lot can ride on the decision, you need a job to survive and so the stakes are high. |

I could tell Ray had put on a few pounds...but I was like so what? He's in his 40s now and I am 95% confidant he's still in better shape than those who were "fat shaming" him. But that illustrates a point that I can not stress enough. Attacking an actor because of their character is stupid. I can not stand Rose Tico....one of the most pointless, useless and downright boring characters to come from Star Wars.... but is that Kelly Marie Trans fault? Not at all and she didn't deserve any of the abuse she received. Nor did Ahmed Best or Jake Lloyd. Now, Rian Johnson is a different matter.... |

Of course he's put on a few pounds. Everyone does as they age, the thing with Ray is he's still in just as good of shape as he was 20 years ago for TPM. Just go check out his social media to see he's still just as active and fit as ever. I think the underlying issue is.... I'll miss the forum. I doubt this new place will afford me the ability to goof off with y'all.
Just be like me and post in the evenings when you get home from work. There's more to catch up on, but you can still be an active part of the community. Of course, that is if you decide to take the new job.. |

Hear hear. All the characters from the sequels were kinda wooden, even the OGs (which was the biggest dissappointment). Yes there were a few moments, but they were short-lived. Just be like me and post in the evenings when you get home from work. There's more to catch up on, but you can still be an active part of the community.
Of course, that is if you decide to take the new job..
True, but other distractions and all. There are reasons I don't forum at home. Mainly because I type far better on an actual keyboard.  |

I think the difference there was quality of actor and story. People like Ford, Cushing and McDiarmid could pull of the dialog. I wonder if it's even possible to turn "I hate sand" into a functional piece of script in the first place, but then again just maybe if great care was taken. Lucas should have really watched a few dozen rom-coms before coming up with the whole Anakin/Padme storyline. Romantic tension really works when it's done right, if not it comes off as cringey and creepy, which is kind of what we got. Edit: ugh I read "prequels" instead of "sequels" somewhere up there, disregard my rantings  |
