Both sides Jedi as well as Sith are very similar in theyre strive to perfection.
One for the gathering of knowledge and wisdom the other one for the same but adding the lust for raw power into that bringing the ego in high esteem as well in the calculation.
Both share the physical training as well as the mental one bringing them toe to toe on battles. No one could be deemed stronger or wiser in any sort.
I dare to say that all and now bear with me. All abilitys skills and personal goals on a physical and intellectual level are equal.
There is only a single exception in theyre balance which seperate them so far from one another that they cannot be compared and never meet the same level of acknowledgement.
Morale.
The morale code of the Sith is nearly nonexistend. They strive for power and do anything to gather as well as keep it. They are faithful to theyr master(s) knowing that only they will be able to bring them to new levels of power until they are asured that they can kill the master in combat or through treachery.
Treachery as the greatest weapon of the Sith is one of the major pillars of a Siths existence never allowing anyone to know him or his abilitys in order to have the advantage of knowledge which comes in handy in theyre power struggles with each other as well as with outsiders.
Lets switch to Jedi. While they are using most of their time studying and exercising in times of peace they are the sworn protectors of everyone who call out for their help. Anyone. Not judging who is worthy to be saved or not. Showing mercy and offering a helpful hand to fallen jedi (no pun intendet ^^).
Working with the Senate they uphold the laws and dutys of the state while setting themselves apart in away which is not felt by anybody else but them. Some upnose Jedi (especially I am thinking of the chosen one here of course) tend to overstretch the humility they had been shown by the Jedi Masters to “show off” yet they will never bring any living being into danger to further their own goals.
Examples for everything I wrote are many and can be seen in all 6 movies as well as many (if not all) books and comics as well as tv-series.
Personal note:
Everything I wrote till now is written in an very objective fashion so I allow myself here as well to offer my own Idea of living up ideals shown in this story. By the way I would like to add that nearly all our ideals and morales are delivered through storys from stonewalls through books into the newer times of interactive exchange they hold the same value for me if I can learn something from them or find myself intellectually engaged.
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
I see that Peace of mind is a state I deem worthy achieving. So I cant say that I see Peace as a lie.
Passion brings strength that is for sure. Yet sometimes the passion overwhelms the one feeling them bringing forth actions which you might regret later on.
Strength and Power is hard to bring together for me. Since I see the greatest Power is the Power of love bringing people together, being determined to overcome any obstacles before them.
Victory… Is live a tournament for many thinking they need to compete with others to survive.
Yet I see that becoming the best you can is not limited or strengthened by the prowess of anyone else since you don’t know their story and his steps you will never walk.
For you own sake you should go your own way following your heart to your go! Your compass to happynes.
Chains? Which chains?
The Force shall free me… I free myself.
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
(There is no chaos, there is harmony.)(*)
There is no death, there is the Force.
—The Jedi Code (Based on the meditations of Odan-Urr)
Coming to peace with your emotions is the state they are talking about for me since my emotions will never cease. I feel compassion every day and don’t think that it hinders my advance on my path.
No ignorance. That’s a big one. We should always be open to learn I guess you all concur.
Without passion there is no life yet I think they mean that you should feel your passions “in” serenity not allowing them to control you. Jedi teach compassion so I believe its about the positive flow of it knowing that happynes brought is happynes shared.
Chaos as a matter of perception can only have a hold over one if the perspective cannot be altered anymore. Under a certain view everything can be chaotic or in harmony. Your choice.
There is no death there Is the force. Energy can not dissipate. It is everlasting and as a being believing that I am not this crude matter rather an illuminous being I end this post with one of my favorite phrases.
We are not bodys having a soul,
but souls having a body.
