However, somepony important said there would be many more seasons, some short and some long.... but I think they should all be 26 episodes long.

Unless they've misled us... which, if they have studied under the guidance of Apple, is highly possible.

I damn nearly cried when they announced it would be just 13 episodes. But hey, as long as there is more after that, I'll live with it.

And yeah, cupcakes is an evil, evil story... Surprisingly enough, what helped me get over it was the video version(the "ready to die" version, other one is just as evil). Now everytime I hear "cupcakes" I remember about the video and laugh it off.

This animation is amazing. Makes me wish we had a Background Pony episode in the 3rd season... Which is probably not happening. At least not with the fanon personalities.

If The Last Roundup wasn't enough to prove that excessive fan service (including that which comes in the form of giving too much attention to fan-favorite background ponies) in the actual show is a bad idea, I don't know what else to say.

Also episode 15 with fluttershy's super loud cheering, the first 15 seconds are filled with innuendos.

The reason that went bad, is because it was Derpy. Anypony else would've not caused that much of a negative reaction, there would be no bloody reason to. The whole reason Derpy caused trouble was because of the "she is offensive to mentally-challenged people" thing.

Hmm, my favorite characters...

Mane 6, I'll have to go with Twilight Sparkle because our personalities are so similar - but Pinkie is a close second, and Rarity extremely close after.
Princesses, probably Luna (especially after Luna Eclipsed), though both have strong 'tragic heroine' elements I like.
For the Cutie Mark Crusaders: I guess Sweetie Belle, then Apple Bloom (sorry, Scootaloo).


... I agree with the prevailing opinion regarding Cupcakes (the story, not the food). I haven't touched it, and I don't plan to. I certainly hope season 3 is longer; but maybe they'll make double-length episodes!

Now that many of us have listed favorite characters, I am curious: Solar Empire or Lunar Republic, or not - and why? I'll wait to hear some of yours before I post mine, but I shall warn in advance that it will b a little long (I have given some thought to the issue)  ;)

I think they should just continue however they please and the fandom will develop around whatever they do. That's what's happened to this point. When they try to make the bronies happy all that happens is grief (and a good meme, but that's beside the point).

Whatever anypony does in life, they will not be as awesome as this picture.

I like Luna. A lot. But I think Celestia makes a better ruler. I haven't given too much thought to it, but her cool-headedness is definitely an advantage over Luna. I'll definitely give some more thought to it, though, and we'll see if there ends up being a 'bigger bad' in the show. Also, in a Lunar Republic-Solar Empire war, who does everypony think the individual ponies of the Mane 6 would side with?

Rainbow Dash fan here, I've been a brony since before season 2.  Love the show. Maybe I should upload a pony lightsabe pic... hmmm dont think I have one of Dashie though.

Honestly, what is the appeal? I am not hating or sickened, I just simply don't understand. So those of you who do, please enlighten me since the Internet says I must love or hate them.

Yeah I'am with ben what is the appeal of the show? Enlighten us. I am rather curious how ponies can appeal to older males.  :)

It's a good, innocent show that makes me happy and promotes acceptance and tolerance, which is very rare these days. It's actually helped me a lot when I've been depressed. It is my nature to study everything I like as much as possible, so of course teh interwebz are the place to turn. I don't know about others, but that's my reason. Also, it's nice to see somepony (or two) ask politely for once :)

I'm not as pushy as many bronies are, so I won't try forcing anypony to become a fan. However, if you are interested in watching it, I recommend the episode Sonic Rainboom (season 1 episode 16). The first two episodes of the first season (parts 1 and 2 of the series premiere) aren't really that good of an indicator of the show as a whole - I liked them much better after I went back and watched them having completed season 2.

Well, honestly I can't really explain. I too, didn't understand the appeal at first(even kind of hated on it), but when even some of my friends started getting into it, I just had to put it to the test.

So I watched the first episode. Meh, still don't see it. My personal rule is, always watch at least 5 to formulate a proper opinion, so I kept going.

Second episode? Still pretty much the same.

Third episode. Things start to get weird, I already somehow memorized all the characters' names, and actually started laughing instead of chuckling.

Next thing I know, sun is rising, and I had watched up to the 12th episode. I was officially addicted to this thing.

My best guess as to why it gets people, is because of the sheer innocence of the show. It's cute, heartwarming and funny. Makes you feel better, somehow.

One thing that my friend says also might take a part on it, is that it might appeal to people's childhoods(same creator of the Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, two pretty darn awesome shows.)

Point for you, Lord 20% Cooler. That's pretty much how my fanhood started as well. It really does make one feel better, doesn't it? It's like pony therapy.

Okay, one of the things that makes me leary is the possibility of powerpuff girls style voices. Even as a kid, that pitch of voice always drove me nuts. Don't know why, but it just bugged me. So, are the voices like that?

Not really, they are all normal pitched, i'd say. As for why I like it, well one, Lauren Faust.... nuff said. Two, it has great writing, songs, story, and characters. It is over all  just an amazing show, which is hard to do these days.

I say watch the first 5 episodes and then tell us if you hate it.

Hmm I get the therapy aspect of it all. About more than 50% of my tv watching consists of cartoons like sponge bob and adventure time cause everything else on tv is either too depressing like the news or just plain sucks like all the shows mtv.  :P I'am loading that MLP episode 16 on youtube to watch  as you suggested user and If I don't like it consider order 66 pony to be executed and all of you banned

Pretty much all of my brony friends started off this way too. They went to see what the fuss was all about, either by curiosity or recommendation, and then BAM addiction. Kind of like US, to be honest, you buy one to see what the fuss is all about... and next thing you know you have a whole collection of them XD


Well, it depends on the caracter. Some do have quite high-pitched voices(Pinkie Pie comes to mind...), but it's mostly fine.

another good episode is 12 season one. one of the best songs in the Series. Winter wrap up, winter wrap up.

Might be a little while until I can do that but I'll certainly try it. My therapy shows were always Trek or Bugs Bunny. I love the cartoon violence that was able to make it through in those days. It was just plain funny...oh and Mr. Bean.


If that's the case, then I'll still try those first 5, but PinkiePie might need to...disappear for awhile lol

You're not in worse condition than I am, that I assure you. Just yesterday, a friend of mine said something painfully obvious, so the mental "Well, DUH" was obligatory. Except it came out in her voice. And it wasn't the first time.

BAHAHA! :D Just finished watching  episode 16 and though I could already predicted the ending of it early on in the beginning of the episode I enjoyed it very much. The character's voices themselves didn't bother me and I found it fitted each of the characters well since they are all goofy and cute. plus all their expressions cracked me up! I was either smiling or chuckling for the entire episode. Though with that said I still can't get past the fact that I just watched a show about ponies so don't count me in as being a MLP fan anytime soon. Nevertheless I have a new understanding of why you all watch it and like many of you said its not for everyone, but  all you bronies now have the respect of Big Boss.  8) *Beats chest and bows before pony fans*

So my battery is about to die, but I started #16. I chuckled through the intro, and only got as far as the books falling, but after the theme song (admittedly not far) I stopped finding it funny. I'll check out the rest sometime with more battery though.

Nopes too much testosterone in my blood to make me watch more right now, but I may watch another episode when I need a good pick me up when life kicks me down.  ;D

The theme song grows on you, but I recommend watching all the way through (of course). Again, if you don't like it, no worries. You have earned my respect for being open minded enough to try it in the first place.

OH MOST WONDERFUL OF... I mean.... Oh, most wonderful of nights.

This is the worst possible thing...wait, no its great.

Honestly, when I first joined the herd, I skipped the theme song, I still do often. I didnt know who anyone in it was, and it just screams "GIIIIIRL!" in the worst way, so yeah, that is the major stumbling block to the show.

I watched a lot of videos online featuring content from it, and thats what made me need to see the series. I think the tipping point was Watchponies by Bronyvids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1hETuP33r8#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1hETuP33r8#ws) I just had to figure out how you could reenact the Watchmen trailer with footage from a girls cartoon. Turns out, theres some decent action and some of it feels pretty darned epic.

Then I finally got past the opening, and I really enjoyed it. I fluctuated on my best pony rating between Pinkie and Rainbow Dash and Luna a few times, and then when I realized I was trying to figure out who was best pony, I figured I liked the show. I think a big part of it is just having fun, and ignoring gender role stereotypes, that any guy who likes a cartoon not tailor made for guys has to be of questionable sexuality, and thats just not right. So I think some of the attraction is sort of rebellion against that.

Interesting to say the least.  Watched a few of the epis.  I'll be watching more with my daughter.  Always up for some more cartoons in my life that aren't trying to sell me things I don't need.  Also nice not to have to read subtitles to get some enjoyment.  Liked the butterfly wings on the one pony.  Was pretty cool as I like papillons. 

On to the person that commented about guys wearing pink:  I wore pink gloves and shoes for 2 fights to really throw a loop in my opponent's strategy during my time with Mixed Martial Arts.  Never bothered me one bit.  I just wished it had worked longer than 2 fights.  Might have stayed in. 

Find me some alternate art with one carrying a Dark Blue Lightsaber and I'll lend my support to you.

On a largely unrelated note, I am undertaking the task of writing a lengthy essay on the appeal of MLP (mostly for my friends [and family, if they care enough to read it]). It's almost 3:00 AM (yes, I believe I still have the wrong time zone on here :P) and I'm only on my third page.... no sleep tonight 8)

Having seen comparison pics earlier today, I must say that I do believe it was a reference. Same with the fight scene in A Canterlot Wedding, Part 2 (Mane 6 vs. Changelings) as a Matrix Reloaded reference.... I didn't see it at first, but after seeing it again and reading speculation about it I definitely think it was.

Anyone know where I can watch the show online?

Makashi: To the best of my knowledge, every individual episode is up on YouTube in glorious 1080p; all you have to do is search for the show name, the season number (1-2), and the episode number (1-26 per season). What I am not sure about is how they got it in 1080p when the HD official download is only in 720.

Huzzah! The essay is complete! 7 pages in a Word document - I was writing it by hand for a while until I had access to a computer, but with handwriting it was up to 8 pages and only 2/3 complete.

Honestly, I have never found the whole 'thee and thou' thing all that confusing. In fact, I have a friend who was once protesting the lack of systematic-ness (sorry, but I don't feel like restructuring my sentence around that word) in English by misspelling almost everything. I told him to use the Olde Englishe dialecte instead  ;D
I like to think I am not too bad at it myself, either.

"Derpy Hooves, Dark Lord of the Sith" might suit you, though it could be a little long and cumbersome. I would imagine her to use a chaotic form of lightsaber combat, too, like Ataru or Juyo. No, Derpy would probably use Vaapad, now I think about it. Do any of those fit you?

Okay, something happened today that really threw me off and made me think of User/Luna...I was at the office (I work at a personal office on my own and was in the office just to try to get a bit extra done), and I haven't slept much in the last two or three days. I fell asleep on my desk, and woke up to the phone ringing. For the life of me, my sleep addled brain couldn't remember the office's name...all I wanted to do when I picked up the phone is say, "Hello, My Little Pony"...I'm screwed

Anyways, back to actual MLP discussion - what does everypony think will be in season 3? I've seen speculation about a Celestia-centered episode and I halfway expect it. I'm curious to see what everypony else thinks ;D

I want the fan fic Past Sins to be made into a season.

I really want a Celestia/Luna centered episode, preferrably on their past. It's probably asking for too much though, so I don't really expect anything on that.

Also, moar background/secondary ponies. But then again, after the damn whining babies made a fuss over Derpy, it's not very probable that it will happen. Even though the problem was very Derpy-specific.

I honestly wouldn't be too surprised of there was an alicorn-centered episode, not necessarily next season though.  And yeah.... a background pony episode would be cool, but it would definitely cause a lot of whining just like with Derpy. I just really want another episode starring.... well, me ;)

No offense, Luna, but I would wish for a Celestia episode before a Luna one, simply because Celestia hasn't had any character development yet, while Luna has.
Also, more 'serious-toned' episodes in which they make important decisions - although that's been a lot of season 2. And, guarantee for season 4 :P

Well, we know that Celestia hates Discord, likes cake, and apparently doesn't like drinking large amounts of tea... beyond that she's a near-undefeatable goddess-like figure with practically unlimited power, wisdom and forgiveness. Perhaps some development is in order ;) I did enjoy how they made her more vulnerable and emotional in the second season, hopefully they'll build off of that for the third.

Ooh, this might be a good time to mention my theory about Celestia, Luna, Discord, and the Elements of Harmony!

I do not believe that Celestia and Luna are, of themselves, the "goddess"-figures that seems to be the most prevalent among bronies - nor, indeed, that they are immortal. I propose that alicorns' relationship to ponies is somewhat like Elves from The Lord of the Rings - they live longer and are physically and magically stronger, but by no means invincible (or, in my opinion, immortal - they just live significantly longer than normal ponies). What gave Celestia and Luna such power and longevity during the Equestrian era was the Elements of Harmony - the most powerful magic known to all ponies. Indeed, the alicorn sisters' connection to the Elements was one of the most important factors that enabled them to rule Equestria (apart, of course, from the consent of the ponies they rule over). However, they are now living, as it were, on borrowed time since their connection to the Elements has been severed; it is only a matter of time before the Mane 6 take up the mantle of rulers of Equestria.

Well, that's my two cents. Tell me what you think, I know it's a bit of a departure from tradition!

Unless they penalize or (horrors!) disqualify you for trying to make the other athletes use live spiders. Also, 100m spider toss? Does that mean you run for 100 meters and then toss a spider? Or try to throw a spider as close to 100 meters as possible? Additionally, how do they balance out the use of magic and/or wings? Please, I am very lost, enlighten me on the rules of this venerable sport.

You throw a spider as close as you can to a target, which is a large circle (its center is 100M away). No magic, no wings. At least I think that's how it would have worked, but the competition ended as soon as the other competitors saw that I was in it. Maybe it was out of respect or because my traditional tracksuit was that amazing. I'm not sure. Anyways, as you can see, I ended up winning all three medals! ;D

I did 2 years Amateur in West Virginia.  The only notable people I ever rolled with were Rich Franklin and George Oiler (and that was practice).  Got out after having my right thumb broken and my knee hyper extended.  Was fun but I really needed to be much younger when I got in there.  Some of those Boone County West Virginia boys were pretty hyper.  Now, I focus more on the softer Martial Arts so that I will live long enough to get my Black Belt.

Only in major episodes, such as season 1 episodes 1 and 2, season 2 episodes 1 and 2, along with a handful of others. It was intended to be viewable in any order but certain episodes don't fit with that.

Personally, I would start with season 1 episode 16. That's normally a good bet.

OMG, this show is the smurfin' greatest thing ever!!!!!

I had to wake up early today for work and while I ate breakfast I turned on the TV and bam MLP. the episode had something to do with having a cider making contest to try to keep the apple orchard... I don't know, but maybe it was that I had just woken up but man this show is nuts, and so colorful. I felt like I was still dreaming. LOL I may try watching it again to make sure I understand what is happening.

So, I was wondering.... which of the Mane 6 does everypony feel they relate to the most? For me, it would definitely be Twilight. Obsessed with knowledge, terrified of being tardy, etcetera.... except my schedule and relations with others are based around my athletic agenda. That's a pretty big difference, but Twilight is still the most similar to me by a longshot.

So I need a title for my fanfic. The basic premise is that Chrysalis comes back for revenge and frees Discord from the statue that the Mane 6 imprisoned him in and they team up to control Equestria. Any suggestions? :)

A few things to consider here:

Chrysalis wouldn't be nearly as powerful as she was in A Canterlot Wedding Part 2, so a straight-up invasion would be futile. However, she would need access the statue garden area to awaken Discord. I doubt Canterlot's security would make the same mistake twice and have doubtless learned (or at least started to use) the spell that Twilight used to reveal the changelings for what they are. It would be difficult, but not quite impossible.

Next, if she got caught she wouldn't have an advantage anymore. Celestia would most likely be able to defeat her on her own, and Luna would as well. Again, not impossible but very, very difficult. Then there are the Mane 6 with the Elements to consider. That would make it impossible.

Finally, releasing Discord. The only reason he was able to escape before was because the sisters are no longer connected to the Elements. Now that he's been imprisoned by those who are connected to the Elements, it would be nigh impossible to turn him back to flesh. The only pony capable of the feat, outside of Celestia, would probably be Luna/Nightmare Moon. I personally suggest having Luna revert to her evil ways at the promise of eternal night. If she was functioning as a spy/saboteur (still as Luna - looking like Nightmare Moon would be a dead giveaway ;)), the odds of everything working out for Chrysalis would be much, much better. All three main villains combining forces would be ridiculously awesome even if it wasn't necessary, though :D

She was talking about the spell that Twilight used during the fight with the changeling hordes.

Nopony knows about Cadance's mother or father.... neither Celestia nor Luna are known to have any romantic connections and they don't seem very motherly. Plus, Celestia hadn't really known about Twilight until she got her cutie mark, and she would have certainly seen Twilight before then had her own daughter been foalsitting the wee unicorn. In addition to that, the name Mi Amore Cadenza doesn't go along with the other Equestrian names.... perhaps there is a land of alicorns.

The MLP wiki also states that she is co-ruler of the 'Crystal Empire'. Season 3 is gonna be amazing.

Even stranger - Cadance is listed on the trading cards as possessing a seventh Element (love). Most irregular.

In the show, Pinkamena Diane Pie is just Pinkie's full name. In the subculture, Pinkamena is Pinkie's cannibalistic, sadistic and horrendously depraved alter ego (with a straight mane and tail like in Party of One). Since we have decided not to discuss the main story that this horrible thing comes from, I shall give no more details.

Yeah. He's very powerful but doesn't know how to handle the power. He's like a five-year-old given a nuclear bomb, which, while terrifying, is not quite as bad as an adult with the same bomb and a desire to destroy the world. Which brings to mind the question of what exactly Discord will do with Twilight when he captures her. Brainwash her into working for him, maybe?

So, I'm watching "The Cutie Mark Chronicles" for the first time, I haven't finished it yet, but from the very first story, I can already tell that every single of the mane six ponies got the cutie marks because of Rainbow Dash's first use of the Sonic Rainboom.

The rainbow that led Apple Jack back home, the race that Rainbow Dash started in Fluttershy's defense, the rainbow explosion from the sonic boom that caused both Twilight and Rarity to discover their cutie marks.

Definitely the Sonic Rainboom.

I agree. I only just saw it for the first time. It made me rather upset. I feel a surprising connection to all of the characters. It's odd.

She does get this certain look that can be interpreted as seductive, that much is true. However, it is not just when Spike is around. It's sort of random, but it's mostly when she's being clever.

It's still kinda kinky... makes it seem like she's got a really pervy mind.

I can't figure that out though. I've seen them interact a lot but it seems to me that Rarity isn't attracted to Spike at all.

Well, I'm a fan of Fluttershy/RD and RarityApplejack for the same reasons. They just seem to complement each other so perfectly.

I also like Twilight/Luna, since Twi was the only one that accepted Luna right away, despite the misunderstood intro and her past as Nightmare Moon.

Even though they don't have canon personalities, I also like to ship Octavia/Vynil and Lyra/Bonbon. The personalities and interactions made by the fandom are just so hilarious and adorable, I can't resist :P

Oh, and I also sometimes ship Pinkie/RD, prankster duo FTW ;D

I definitely prefer the lighter stuff, as far as vocals go; I also like orchestral music (though I haven't heard too, too much of that lately).
I like some of Eurobeat Brony's songs (I heard he was the first major brony musician - is this true?); as well as a few by Mandopony and AcousticBrony. Also Replacer, and Ponyphonic (I really wish he'd release more).
From the show (to answer an earlier question) my favorite song would be Pinkie's Smile or This Day Aria, they're both really sweet.

By the way, this question has been pressing on my mind. What on earth do ponies do with the other domestic animals, like sheep and pigs and chickens? Cows (and donkeys) seem to be treated more like equals (though my memory is fuzzy on the cow one) but I have no idea about the others. And in Sisterhooves Social, Rarity cooks eggs?! What's up with that?
Please don't say they "use the pigs to harvest the blood to drop on ponies". That excuse is simply not satisfactory.

Eurobeat Brony was probably the first significant brony musician. He was, after all, the one who created the original Lunastep song.

Now, animals.... cows and sheep seem less intelligent than ponies and donkeys, but they have at least some level of sapience (sheep only speak on one occasion if I recall correctly). I would imagine that they use sheep for wool and cows for milk. Pigs.... I remember reading that they might keep pigs to dispose of their waste and produce fertilizer. That's the most reasonable explanation I've heard, anyways, aside from truffles.

As for chickens.... perhaps they use them to get feathers? The whole deal with ponies eating eggs doesn't make sense, but in a show where one of the main characters can break the fourth wall in canon, is complete logic to be expected? ;)

That's a very interesting idea regarding the pigs. On the other hand, it seems strange that ponies can keep other intelligent creatures (sheep specifically) in pens like slaves. Maybe Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn put it best when he said "The ability to speak does not make you intelligent"...

Hmm... I'm not a fan of shipping myself. One of the major reasons I watch FiM is that it isn't 'tainted' like nearly all of the shows geared toward older folks. For example, the most violent movie I have liked was... Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Mostly, people think of her as evil because of how she is portrayed outside of canon - Trollestia, Molestia (not forum-safe to discuss), and Tyrant Celestia. Personally, I think she's awesome :) She and Cadance are both underrated, in my most humble opinion.

Hmm... Celestia is definitely one of the more complex FiM characters (well, not explicitly - but if she has emotions like any other pony [and since Luna has been showed to, I think that it is logical to say Celestia does as well] the fact can easily be extrapolated). Imagine how guilty she must have felt after banishing Luna to the moon - even if she had no other choice. (In my opinion, Celestia couldn't really control what the Elements of Harmony would do once she unleashed them. And having to watch her loyal subjects grow old and die while she does not (again, in my personal canon the Elements are what grant her such longevity, so with the unnatural state of having her youth magically extended the sight would be doubly difficult to bear). The way she treats Twilight and her friends (while the Mane 6, being the new Bearers of the Elements and thus likely the future rulers of Equestria, are a special case) indicates she most likely had subjects she especially cared for before; it must have been devastating to her when they died, especially during earlier centuries of her reign.

Where was I going with this? Oh, yes, I suppose that she simply has to deal with her unique status - and one way to do that (as well as relate to her subjects) is through the humor and practical jokes that the brony community at large has blown out of proportion. So, in short, I must agree with you, SOTJ. Princess Celestia is much maligned by many bronies without real reason. I have come to be rather attached to her as a character.

Yeah, I agree. Though I haven't really seen many people portraying her as outright "evil". Trollestia and Molestia aren't exactly nice, but aren't really evil either, if you think about it. She's lived and ruled for at least a thousand years, that's gotta take a toll on one's mind.

I really like her as a character. But Luna is still best princess, though ;D

Yes - Luna and Celestia both have significant tragic heroine elements (for Luna, for example, think Edmund from Narnia). I suppose, with the fall and redemption, Luna's elements are more pronounced; but she seems to have dealt with them at least as well anyway.

Twilight turned over in her bed at the sound of something heavy being dragged over the floor. “Whaa…?” She rose from her bed and trotted to where she could get a clear view of the main floor. Squinting into the darkness, she could see… what looked like a large, shadowy figure moving about the main floor?
Her heart began to beat frantically. Calm down, Twilight. It’s just your imagination. She telekinetically turned on the lights, revealing….
“Spike? What are you doing?” The young dragon had been lugging the heavy bookstand in front of the door, where a massive pile of books had accumulated.
Spike shrugged. “Ah, nothing. I was just, you know, forming a barrier. In case Chrysalis and her shapeshifters happen to attack again.”
Twilight sighed. “Spike?” she asked as she moved down the stairs. “Are you all right? You’ve been acting funny these past couple of days.”
“I’m perfect fine. I was just kinda worried…”
She rolled her eyes. Spike could be so irritating at times… “There’s nothing to be worried about,” she said, irritated. “Get back to bed, and I’ll clean this ‘barricade’ of yours up.” Concentrating hard, she began to levitate the various objects back in to position- only to open her eyes to see Spike sprawled on top of the pile.
“Spike? What’s going on with you?”
Spike opened his mouth to speak but the voice that came out of it wasn’t Spike’s at all. “Did you think you were going to get away from me so easily, Twilight Sparkle?”
A shiver ran down Twilight’s spine, making her mane stand slightly on end. I know that voice… Her thoughts were interrupted by the brilliant burst of green light that engulfed her dragon friend. When the light finally died, Twilight didn’t even need to look to know who it was.
“Chrysalis,” she breathed.
“Miss me, Twilight? I must say, I was…rather disappointed that you were so callous as to ruin my perfectly planned wedding day.” The changeling queen took a step towards Twilight, her green eyes flashing with malice. “But it all worked out in the end,” she continued, an odd smile on her face. “I found another stallion to love me, and now I have regained all of my power.”
No! This can’t be happening! Twilight felt sick- she’d seen what Chrysalis had been able to do. She’d nearly killed Celestia, how could she stand against her? “What have you done with Spike?” Twilight managed to choke out.
“You honestly think I‘d tell you that? You’re more foolish than I thought. But don’t worry, you’ll still make a capable soldier in my army- once I convert you into a changeling, that is.”
“NO!”  Twilight cried. She stomped her hoof and fired a bright magenta bolt from her horn.
Chrysalis simply caught it.
“I must say, Twilight, I’m impressed. Very brave of you, yet absolutely useless,” Chrysalis said as she fired a stun ray at Twilight. The unicorn jumped backwards frantically, her hooves scrabbling on the floor. The blast landed right at Twilight’s hooves, sending her flying through the air and into the bookshelf. Hard. The unicorn fell to the floor in a heap.
Twilight raised her head weakly, only to see Chrysalis striding across the floor towards her, her horn glowing brightly. A circle of sickly green fire sprang up around the unicorn. Don’t panic, Twilight. You’re only going to wind up teleported to some forgotten mine, that’s all.
She could see only one chance. With all her might, she jumped upwards and into the bookshelf, safely out of the reach of the green flames. Wrapping her forelegs around the cubbyholes, she slowly began to climb.
“Going somewhere, Twilight?” Chrysalis smiled evilly as her horn began to glow. Suddenly, Twilight felt herself being pulled from the shelf. She tried desperately to hold on, but to no avail. She flew through the air, all four legs flailing wildly, until she hit the floor a Chrysalis’ hooves with a thud!
Twilight Sparkle- commander of the Elements of Harmony, protégé of Princess Celestia herself, and one of the most magically talented unicorns in all of Equestria- twitched once, then fell still.

I'll reread it later when I have more time, but having skimmed it, it seems promising 8)

This is great...

So I was at the mall and noticed a little girl alone in a store. Turns out she had strayed from her mother and was lost. Anyways, while I was helping find her mother, I noticed that she was carrying a MLP backpack. I inquired about it and she said that she loves MLP toys but hates the show. When I asked her why, she said she was scared of the mean blue princess who yells at everyone on Halloween.... after a few minutes I located her panicked mother and reunited them. Moral of the story? Don't be Luna ;)

To be honest, I would way rather fight Chrysalis than Luna.... maybe it's just me, but lightning, weather control, the power to raise the moon, having once had the ability to wield half the Elements of Harmony and some shapeshifting powers are altogether more intimidating than typical (if more powerful, at least under some circumstances) magic and shapeshifting ;) Plus, Luna was BA enough to freakin' sleep through Chrysalis' whole invasion. If that isn't intimidating in and of itself, I don't know what is. Luna is the Equestrian equivalent of the honey badger.

By the way, Rogue, I shall be reading the first chapter of your fanfic tonight (in depth) 8)

I knew that they were not truly generations of Luna, as she's only G4. However, after some research, I found that they are the night/moon-associated ponies from each generation and are therefore her predecessors.

Princess Blue, Moondancer, Starry Wings, Moon Shadow, Midnight Dream, and of course Princess Luna (S1), Nightmare Moon and Princess Luna S2) (ME!).

I don't know, something about the writing and animation just feels really wrong to me. It's actually the main reason I didn't warm up to FiM at first, I thought it would be the same over-girly and poorly animated/written stuff the previous ones were. Boy, was I ever so wrong.

I took the liberty of watching all the good Molestia, Pinkamina, and Li'l Miss Rarity, videos and finding the blogs on tumblr.

I'm a little disapointed that there aren't any good Pinkamina blogs anymore, but I digress.

Oh boy, as if the sabers addiction wasn't drying my bank account enough already... My friend(same one I helped get the Consular) let it slip what he plans to give me as a birthday present: A MLP plushie. And not the official crappy ones, a custom-made one!

As happy as I am about that... I know myself enough to predict I'll end up getting addicted to these critters. And judging by their price tag... My wallet is begging for mercy already ;D

Aspect...poison pony...though not lethal...he is stuck with a curse of sorts, representing the Forbidden Cloud Forest which is chocked full of poison plants and toxic fruit...which he eats and thus makes his touch cause a variety of affects on other ponies...itching, sneezing, sleeping, farting, burping, temporary blindness/loss of voice, hunger, flu, etc...he is looking for that special pony (a girl pony...don't get all ship on me lol) that is affected in a positive way, and gets all fluttery by his touch.

Name?...Maybe something like Bane...Baneful Night Pony?

Mine is a male pegasus pony, with a white body and a sky blue mane. His cutie mark is a silver lightning bolt, which matches his name: Silver Bolt.

While his top speed isn't very impressive, the fact that he can reach it almost instantly(thanks to a special kind of magic he was born with) makes for quite a feat, almost as if he was teleporting around. It is, however, as much of a curse as it is a blessing, since the sudden bursts of speed makes him unable to see where he is going, leading to very often crashes.

And as if it wasn't bad enough, he was very good friends with Derpy Hooves ever since flight academy, making the accidental destructive potential ten times higher...

I pulled the antlers...for no other reason than I forget when shopping him and liked him without them  :D

My pony is a pegasus mare with a hot pink body, black mane and tail, and blue eyes. Her cutie mark is 3 blue fireworks. Her name is Starfire.

Has anypony noticed how some of the lessons seem to wear off? For example, in Bridle Gossip, the ponies learn that Zecora isn't bad, despite how she first appears. And then we get to Luna Eclipsed, where the exact same thing happens.

Yeah, that was weird indeed. Sure, Zecora was just mysterious while Luna actually had an evil past as Nightmare Moon, and they did warm up to her faster than to Zecora(at least Twi and AJ did), but still.

Strange looking creature (zebra) versus the alicorn Princess of the Night whose magic looks like lightning and who threatened Equestria with eternal darkness twice (and still has a bad temper at times).... I'd say they had much more reason to fear Luna than Zecora.

For Zecora, it was pretty much just her appearance that frightened the ponies. For Luna.... well, fear of her nearly goes back to their ancient history (and, for the most part, for legitimate reasons).

Regardless, Pinkie probably had a lot to do with their paranoia in both cases ::)

I've got to say, I have been under the weather for the last three to four days. I felt wretched tonight and logged off earlier because I just couldn't keep a clear head to write. Afterwards though, I couldn’t sleep. I remembered what someone said about watching MLP when they're down, so I popped up YouTube...three episodes down and I'll say that am a brony. No, I'm not going to be changing my name any time soon or referring to everyone as "everypony" but I honestly enjoy the show. And I've gotta say that I like Aplplejack. Can definitely relate there. On my test, a huge landslide win for Rainbow Dash  :D

I've taken a lot of MLP personality tests and almost all of them put me as Twilight (Luna isn't a possible outcome, I suppose).

So I took the Bronyland test once again. Last time I took it, it was Twilight by a huge margin. This time.... Rarity by about the same margin, then Fluttershy, then Twilight and Pinkie.

I got Rainbow Dash but it was also really close to being like Twilight and Pinkie.

Huh, got Rarity first, then Twilight, Fluttershy and RD(all by a small margin). Funny, because I have NOTHING to do with her whatsoever... I honestly was expecting Fluttershy.

After reading the provided description of her personality, I realized that it was actually more accurate than I thought (although I still believe I'm more like Twilight). However, I think SOTJ rigged the quiz.

Only thing that was accurate for me was the "pays too much attention to details", and the "generally very polite(unless someone deserves a little of your attitude)" parts. I care little to nothing about fashion and how I look to others, and I'd rather die than be the center of attention, so yeah :P

Until quite lately, I didn't realize how much I love being the center of attention.... aside from the fashion part, Rarity actually matched me quite well.

Still haven't watched enough of the show to know all of these breeds/divisions...what (in short) is an Alicorn?

Alicorns are the "fusion" between a pegasus and an unicorn. Princess Celestia, Princess Luna and Princess Cadence are the only three Alicorns shown so far. And since all three are Princesses, it is assumed all Alicorns are either royalty or nobles.

Other types are Earth, Pegasus and Unicorn, which are quite self-explanatory.


The captain of the Royal Guard is a normal Unicorn, so it's not really necessary to be an Alicorn to hold a title of importance. But he's your character, so it's you who knows what's best for him to be/not be.

Yep. Alicorns are basically just OP winged unicorns (although Luna and Tia are significantly taller than normal ponies and Cadance is a bit taller than most mares). Coming up soon, we'll have crystal ponies too!

Fun fact, Cadance was initially intended to be a unicorn (which would've made more sense) but Hasbro decided they wanted to sell more winged ponies.

Anyways, holding an important title definitely doesn't mean you should be an alicorn. Prince Blueblood is a unicorn, for example. But hey, if you want to, you can join me in being among this wonderfully rare pony type! :D

Just throwing this out there, but outside of the MLP fandom the word 'alicorn' typically refers to a unicorn's horn (and the substance the horn is made of).


Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who likes Cadance the way she is.... :'( Perhaps it would have made more sense for her to be a unicorn, but I like her as an alicorn. One thing I find interesting about Cadance is that the speed at which she appears to age proves (to me, anyways) that Luna and Celestia only remained the same age for so long because of the Elements. Now that they're no longer connected to the Elements.... well, look at how much Luna has aged. I would imagine that Celestia's joints will start creaking soon :D

Hey, nobody said anything about not liking her ;D I personally found the idea of more Alicorns quite nice.

Also, the theory about the elements still isn't fully proved even with the aging we saw. There are still plausible explanations for them, such as Luna losing her powers when the Elements hit her and as a consequence reverting to a younger version, and is slowly recovering them along with her appearance. As for Cadance, it could be that Alicorns mature just as fast as normal ponies, but stop when they reach adulthood. I still think the Elements theory is the best fit, but it's always possible to be proven wrong...

I just realized that all the cannon "Alicorns" are girls. I think Knightly should be an alicorn because you'd think there would be some stallions.

I heard a theory somewhere that the gene for race is carried on the X chromosome, making it so only mares can be alicorns. Unless your stallion happens to have an extra X. ;)

Pony generations can be confusing.... take the Cakes for example. Two earth ponies with a unicorn foal and a pegasus foal.  All this talk about Cadance (no, I'm not making a typo. Cadance is the official spelling) is getting me excited for the Crystal Empire in season 3 ;D

Just a question, and I hope nobody takes this in the wrong way, but what is this MLP craze? Or more specifically, why?  I have nothing against the show or anyone who watches it, I'm really just curious.  It seems to have become really popular with demographics other than girls ages 5-12 and I'm curious as to what I'm missing.  I've never seen the show, and never known anyone in person who watches it, so I figured a group like this could help explain to me the intricacies of my lack of insight. I mean, I would assume I'm somewhat similar to other people on this forum, so maybe there's a chance I could get into it.

Quite simply, it's a good, well-written show with clever humor and characters that everyone can relate to. It also contains references to pretty much everything awesome and I often recommend it as an antidepressant :D
